Is chapstick and/or lip balm allowed per the TSA, within your carryon? I looked around and didn't find anything that said we couldn't but I wanted to double check with "experts" (or basically folks who have traveled since August 2006 via airplane).

I may be wrong... but I am pretty sure it has to go into your zip lock bag.

We did not have any trouble with ChapStik this last set of flights. Just be sure there is no fuse in it and you should be fine.

Most airports I've been through want such things in the ziploc bag; that said, I've passed through security with lipbalm in my pocket many times (forgotten it was there) and have never been stopped. Just to be safe, though, I'd place it in your baggie.

Check the TSA website for the latest, but as of last December they were saying that as long as it was a solid (lipstick-like) it was fine, but if it was one of those squeeze type ones like some forms of Blistex, then it had to be in the baggy.

After they take your lighter/lipbalm/razor/shaving cream, and so on you can buy a new one in the airport store on the other side of security.

What is up with that.

Does this make any sense to anyone else ?
