Chantelle's Planning Journal-YCG/CG/Morrocco DP-AND WE'RE OFF!!!!!!!!

I love those Mickey bubbles--I'm going to have to remember that! :) And the luggage tags are very unique. I have to admit, I love getting ideas from everyone's planning reports--I'm not nearly as creative as I'd like to be, lol.

Tonight I go get fitted for my dress. Hopefully she can take it in enough that the dress will stay up at the top. Less then a month to the wedding now so I am starting to get very excited.

My bridal shower/stagette is this Saturday so I am very much looking forward to that. It is a home and gift party for the shower and that is all I know. My older sister and our good friend have been planning it all so it has been very top secret. I know it will be great because my sister has been very busy lately. I have upgraded her to Maidzilla because of all the planning and crazy projects she has been doing.

My sister was upset when she saw the luggage tags I made because she was planning to make some. She says she crafted up something else cool I will get this weekend. She is insisting I add it to my planning journal, so I will try to get pictures up of this secret project and of the shower up early next week.

Other then that, I am getting very excited because we finally got to pick out our puppy. I have decided on the name Bullini for her and I can't wait to pick her up once we are back from the wedding.

Aw that is the cutiest wee thing I have seen in a long time, I wish I could have a puppy, my DF is allergic:guilty:

She's an english bulldog. I have wanted one forever and get excited everytime one comes on TV or see a picture of one. They are very cute puppies.

My fiance thinks I am a nutcase, but then I bought a book about english bulldogs from the petstore and he ended up reading it cover to cover and giggling like a little girl. I asked him what the heck was wrong with him and he just kept going "look how cute they are!" I can't wait to see him with the puppy. He has already said he is going to work with her everynight to train her so we'll see how that goes. It also has warmed him up to the idea of babies so that makes me happier.

Your puppy is SO cute!!! Your wedding is really coming along love the dress!!

I bought those same bubbles online as well since I was tired of checking with walmart, only I paid 2.99 I will have to post the website later.

My older sister (MOH) and my good friend hosted a bridal shower for me this past weekend. I know they put tons of time and effort into it and had some awesome stuff planned, but unfortunatly, through no fault of their own, it did not end up being an enjoyable party at all.

I wanted to go with a Home & Gift party (kind of like tupperware), so they set that up for me and I was excited to get to pick out my gifts from the money my guests kindly contributed. However, the selection of items soon became less then exciting as I was forced to decide what I wanted to buy right then and there. As the consultant hovered over me, I had to fill in the order forms and figure out how I wanted to spend the over $300 I received while my guests sat patiently and waited for the party to move on. Everytime I seemed to choose an item I really wanted, it was either out of stock or I was unable to purchase it because I needed to spend more money. At one point I decided I kind of wanted to set $50 aside to purchase the DFTW cake serving set and the woman told me "The reason I came her was so you can spend that money on my stuff". As far as I knew, it was my money given to me by my guests and I could spend it however I wanted.

It was completely frustrating and I got really upset as I was stuck at the kitchen table filling out forms and my guests all started to leave. We didn't end up doing any of the party games planned and no one had time to enjoy the food my friend worked so hard on preparing. In the end I was just picking stuff I didn't even really want so I could be done and get rid of the consultant. Worst of all, I just felt like a money grabbing b*tch because my party only consisted of me being given money and spending the entire time trying to spend it. It was so bad that we are filing a complaint with Home and Gift and my sister sent out apology e-mails to all my guests today.

After the consultant (and most of my guests) left, the evening did start to pick up. We did the quiz about Curtis which I did not bad on and I got to open my gifts. I was excited because I got a whole bunch of toys, a bed and a collapsible crate for my new puppy. My sisters original idea was to throw a Puppy Shower for my bridal shower but then I stupidly suggested the Home & Gift idea. Stupid me!

My sister also gave me these awesome water bottles she crafted for us to use in Disney. She made the labels and stuck them on.

A picture of me in my ears at the shower:

The best part of the shower...the amazing chocolate covered strawberries my friend Melanie made! Who needs to pay the $50 for them at Disney when she can do such an amazing job!

Chantelle, I am soo sorry to hear that your shower turned out that way! I am horrified! I have been a Mary Kay Consultant for over 13 years, and it is pretty much my full-time job. I can't ever imagine putting someone in that position. There is no reason why you couldn't have selected items (and as few as you wanted) much later...even days later.

I have done tons of home parties, bridal showers, and most of the pre-wedding trials and showers were done with very little money in my pocket. But it was not about me! It is about the guest of honor...You! Terrible customer service!

It was very unprofessional for the consultant to do that to you. It just gives all of us who work for ourselves in a similar way a bad name.

I am glad you got fun stuff for you and your adorable new puppy though! And I want one of those strawberries right now! Yummy!

So after my dissapointing bridal shower, we all got ready to go out for the stagette. I had no idea what was planned for the night but got quite excited as my sister pulled out the mickey ears for everyone. Then she pulled out the glow ears and I knew it was going to be a really good night! Here's a picture of everyone in our ears:

My ears were on a mickey hat, but it didn't fit my head. We ended up cutting them off and glueing the ears and veil to a headband so it would stay on for the night.

My other friend is getting married at the top of a mountain in BC this August so we decided to have a joint stagette. Here are the t-shirts we wore:

We started off the evening by meeting up with her for dinner and a enjoying a few margaritas. From there, we proceeded to a bar where each of us brides were given a $50 bar tab. We all enjoyed many a cocktail there and the final bill ended up coming out to a whopping $8!! Can't beat that. We even got this lovely shot called a Muffdive. The results were not nice!

From there we got on the bus for a pubcrawl. The pubcrawl was a surprise for me and I was very excited because I had never been on one. We were also given a list of items we had to find and have pictures taken with throughout the evening:

It was a lot of fun and I was so glad it was a joint stagette because we ended up getting pretty competitive with each other to try and fill the list. I think I came out slightly ahead, but we both did pretty good. My favourite picture is me with the hairy chested guy I had to find.

There seemed to be lots of stags and stagettes at each of the three bars we went to but no one else was wearing the mickey ears! The glow ears my sister found at the dollar store were awesome because we really stood out in the dark bars. Overall the night was a lot of fun and I can say it more then made up for the dissapointing bridal shower. I enjoyed everything about the night from the dancing on the bus to riding the bull at the country bar.

Finally, here's a picture of me and my two sisters (my bridal party). Please note that I did NOT do my own make-up.

So tonight I completed one of the 12 Mickey Program fans I need to do before the wedding (only 3 weeks to go!!!) Here's a look at how it turned out.
