Changing Oct BCV Ressie to Nov?

The good news: We just found out DH has a conference in Boca Raton during Columbus day weekend and he can take DD and me for free. The bad news: We have reservations at the BCV, not only for us but also for some dear friends, for 6 nights including that weekend.

So here is the dilemma: I would need to shift my reservations to November. For people with experience going in November, how is the weather, generally? My daughter is a little bummed about the change because she is afraid it's going to be too cold. Part of the reason we love BC in October is the warm weather and pool. We are going to have a family meeting tonight to discuss it. Of course I must consult with our friends to see if changing the ressie works for them too.

Then of course I need to see if there are any accommodations at the BCV. We are still outside the 7 month window for November at that this point, so we may have some luck. I will call after we decide what we are going to do.

But to help us plan, a couple of questions:

1) Does anyone have any insight as to the general weather temperature differences between October and November? Warm enough to swim and wear shorts, etc?

2) Because I've never been in November I wonder about how busy it is and if there are some weeks that may be easier to book than others. I've read that Jersey week can be a nightmare, but other than that, I don't know much about crowds and booking BCV in November. We won't go Thanksgiving week.

Any insights will help! TIA

When in November? I haven't been there in November, but we were just there in Dec. Dec 2-12 to be exact. IT WAS COLD! We normally go Sept so we are used to swimming and sweating. I will never go again at that time. I didn't enjoy wearing my gloves and layered clothes. The day wasn't broken up with the waterparks and swimmng which made going to the parks kind of old. We started handing out our fast passes because we did things too many times and were getting bored. Imagine that! So my opinion is if there is any chance of cold weather & you enjoy the water, don't go....UNLESS, you can do a Christmas party night because one must see that atleast once! BUt you will be there less time then us. 10 days was too much in the cooler weather. Good luck with your choice. How old are the kids?

We love going in November. We think the last two weeks in October and the first two weeks in November are some of the best. I had a local tell me that the official rainy season ends on October 15, so generally on average November is a little dryer.

This year we are going over Veterans Day into the next week, It is nice because the holiday decorations are going up, the Very Merry Christmas Party starts and the Food and Wine festival is still going on through Veterans Day weekend.

It is a great time to go.

We went the week before Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. It was warm enough to swim in the heat of the afternoon. In the mornings and later at night, we needed a jacket.

We have been to BCV four times in late November. One year it was cold (record cold). This past year it was perfect and the kids could swim. It was really the only time it was warm enough! Kids loved it and it was our best trip ever. It may not be as warm as October, though, if that is a deal breaker.

Thanks to everyone for all the info. Well, not being able to swim may be a deal breaker for DD, and I have to say, I'm a little bummed at the prospect myself. I like Florida warm, and Orlando is so iffy.

Having said that, a freebie to Boca is hard to pass up. What about crowds and booking for November?

We were there the first week of Nov. 2010(Oct. 31-Nov. 7). It was warm, humid the first part of the week(80's), then rain came through and it was chilly and windy the last part of the week. It was Jersey Week and I wouldn't have known it if a server hadn't asked us if we were from NJ because EVERYONE was. I believe this year the second week of Nov. is Jersey Week. It shouldn't keep you from going if that's the week you're considering. :goodvibes

We were there this past Nov 6th to the 14th. The weather was great. spent a few afternoons swimming at SAB.
We are Kidani owners and switched at 7 mths for an 8 night stay at BCV - so I would say you'll be fine for availability if you're a BCV owner and can switch before the 7 mnth window opens for everyone else (I assume you're not going for Thanksgiving).
I am now switched into BCV for Oct 9 to 16 for this year (actually wanted Nov again...but with AP's expiring on the 6th and having not seen MNSSHP, we opted for Oct instead)...and am waitlisted for a 1 bdrm for the 8th! Is your current ressie for a 1 bdrm? Maybe I'll get your room if you move to Nov!

Well if I cancel there will be one more 1 bedroom available for the 8th.

Still don't know what I'm doing, I have to discuss this with our friends who are away for the weekend. I wanted to get the info so when they asked me questions I could answer them. Our travel week would be the 2nd week of November as well, because DD12 already has 2 days off school, which I guess is the same for New Jersey. I've heard Jersey week is very crowded, but Columbus day weekend is also crowded and we go that week just about every year, so it should be no worse.

The chance of warm weather is promising. I don't like leaving the chilly Northeast for chilly Florida. Somehow it just doesn't make sense to me!
