I was always a skinny kid and teenager, even skinny in my early twenties. It was that dang desk job that sent me into the overweight zone. I found it easier to stop looking in the mirror as I packed on more weight and blamed the fashion industry for making clothes smaller. My turning point was when DD14, she was 11 at the time, had to calculate everyone's BMI for a health/physical education project.
I was obese! When did that happen? With that horrifying information in my head I began looking in the mirror more...and I didn't like what I saw. I signed up for weight watchers and lost 40 pounds. And, bonus, I was feeling better. So I celebrated my weight loss and kept celebrating for two years. And eventhough I haven't gained any of the weight back I still need to lose 20 more pounds to be in my target weight zone.
So I've started WW again. BUT, that's not enough. I've been having dreams of running. Not running away from something. A nice jog, you know, that perfect jog through the neighborhood. The dreams brought back memories of the one year in school I was on the track team. That run that comes along every once in a while, when your breathing is easy and rythmic, your legs and arms are timed perfectly and you feel as if you could run forever. I really miss those. I tried a program from a book but it was too much for me. It had me running 5 days a week. I didn't feel like there was enough recovery time in that program. So after more research, and thanks to alot of you here on the WISH, I think the C25K is a good fit for me.
I'm set and ready to go. I've downloaded the podcasts, gotten a good pair of jogging shoes and determined my schedule. I'll do Tues., Thur. and Sat. Suggestions/comments are welcome...don't worry about being nice. I have my big girl pants on.
Best wishes everyone on your health/fitness journies. Maybe I'll see you on the road.
