I was always a skinny kid and teenager, even skinny in my early twenties. It was that dang desk job that sent me into the overweight zone. I found it easier to stop looking in the mirror as I packed on more weight and blamed the fashion industry for making clothes smaller. My turning point was when DD14, she was 11 at the time, had to calculate everyone's BMI for a health/physical education project. :scared1: I was obese! When did that happen? With that horrifying information in my head I began looking in the mirror more...and I didn't like what I saw. I signed up for weight watchers and lost 40 pounds. And, bonus, I was feeling better. So I celebrated my weight loss and kept celebrating for two years. And eventhough I haven't gained any of the weight back I still need to lose 20 more pounds to be in my target weight zone.

So I've started WW again. BUT, that's not enough. I've been having dreams of running. Not running away from something. A nice jog, you know, that perfect jog through the neighborhood. The dreams brought back memories of the one year in school I was on the track team. That run that comes along every once in a while, when your breathing is easy and rythmic, your legs and arms are timed perfectly and you feel as if you could run forever. I really miss those. I tried a program from a book but it was too much for me. It had me running 5 days a week. I didn't feel like there was enough recovery time in that program. So after more research, and thanks to alot of you here on the WISH, I think the C25K is a good fit for me.

I'm set and ready to go. I've downloaded the podcasts, gotten a good pair of jogging shoes and determined my schedule. I'll do Tues., Thur. and Sat. Suggestions/comments are welcome...don't worry about being nice. I have my big girl pants on.

Best wishes everyone on your health/fitness journies. Maybe I'll see you on the road.

Points left 6 - That's not good. I'm under my minimum for the day. I'll eat a ww 1 point fudge bar.

C25K - W1D1 was a little more tiring then I thought it would be. Interval 4 is when I started having to push, but got a second wind on interval 6. Got warm during the 5th interval. Shoulder and neck started hurting. I've had a muscle spasm in my neck, forget the name of the muscle, for a little over 8 years. Courtesy of that wonderful desk job that helped me gain all that weight. I have to work on relaxing my neck and shoulders during future runs.

Off to have my ww 1 point fudge bar.

No training today. I had planned on walking for 30 min. but DM called and kept me on the phone for 1-1/2 hours. My legs are a little sore today especially hip flexors.

Congrats on getting out there! One thing that is really motivating is John Bingham's book Marathoning for Mortals. I read it 3 times and it is an easy read.

Also look to enter a race in the future and that keeps you more on track with a purpose and date.

Keep posting. It helps us all to stay motivated when we read and post on each others journals.

Thanks, will definitely get that book.

And will look for a 5k in the area. Have a few co-workers that run marathon's, maybe they can point me in the right direction.

Tonights run was easier. Paid more attention to posture and relaxing my neck and shoulders. That really helped, they don't hurt at all right now. Got warm and started to feel the run at interval 6.

Feeling like I could run today. But, I'll stick to the program and have a day of rest. My neck and shoulder still feel good. Making a conscious effort to relax them and keep good posture def. helped.

Tonights run was ok. I didn't have enough energy. It wasn't a struggle, but I didn't feel as energetic as I had the previous two. Because I had only two smores for dinner. Won't do that again. We had an unexpected family get together. Cousins from out of state showed up at DMil's house. So we missed having dinner and ended up in front of the fire pit making smores.

I'm a little nervous about weigh in tomorrow. I was sooo bad over the weekend. :sad2: Weekends are pretty busy with the girls. I really need to work on preparing more for the hectic schedule.

So I noticed, after reading other journals, how boring my journal is. For a female, I talk very little...or so DH says. And that's true. I tend to internalize everything. Maybe that was part of my weight problem, keeping it all bottled up. Hmmmmm, guess I'll have to work on that too.

Today's been a busy day. Had a training meeting with a very winded and boring instructor. :faint: Had a really hard time staying awake. I felt a little sorry for him near the end....several ladies at one of the far tables had fallen asleep. I only noticed them because one started snoring. The instructor had to hear it, everyone else did.

The donuts and pastries could have been a welcome sugar rush in my attempt to keep my eyes open, but I held out and stuck to my diet. :goodvibes

Today was hectic. Lots of office drama. :sad2: All surrounding the same two people. It's sort of sad that neither of them realize how sick of it everyone else is. Unfortunatley I was dragged unwillingly, kicking and screaming into it. Really looking forward to my run tonight to get rid of some of this tension.

DD7 was supposed to have riding lessons tonight, but it was rained out. So I have some extra time on my hands.

Wow, tomorrow will have been a month since my last post. So one of the Office Drama Queens quit. Causing a lot of audits. Unfortunately, that same week we had a storm come through with freakishly strong wind gusts. Trees down everywhere. So I had to put my running dreams on hold for lack of time. Things have calmed down now, so tomorrow I'll start over on the C25K plan and my diet. Which means I'll have to weigh myself in the morning. :scared: I haven't been eating well on my break. Happy 4th!

Well two more people in the Drama Queen's department quit. Unfortunately that department is linked to mine so I've had to take up some of the duties. I've been keeping up with the C25k will start w3d1 tonight and am sooooo looking forward to it. I had to repeat w2 because I only had time to do 2 days of it. Thought it was better to do that week again since I missed a day. Weight, I don't know, I keep forgetting to weigh myself. Although, I feel thinner, healthier.

Eight months since I put running on hold. Was offered the Drama Queens position and took it. Unfortunately it means more hours and a whole lot more stress. The department was a total wreck. I've been concentrating on making it efficient and functional.

So I've been steady at 154 but no running. Tonight I'm starting again with W1D1 of C25K. This is my third time starting it. I AM going to do it this time.

The run was good. I was a little tired after the 5th interval but did well on the last one. Weather was good, clear night mid 50s. I feel great!
So W1D1 complete.
