Help!!! Has anyone ever experienced having a GTY room and requesting that it be changed. The two rooms they assigned me are next door to each other and I requested that this not happen. I know I cant expect much with a GTY but the two families I finally got them to go on the cruise together, they will go crazy if they are side by side to each other. DSNY said they will try to email and request a change?????????

I don't understand how they could have assigned you a room number if you are on a GTY....GTY means they cannot assign you a room number yet or are you saying that you were on a GTY and have now been assigned room numbers that you are not happy with. If that is the case call your TA or DCL directly if you booked directly with them and ask them to change it if they can. If they no longer have any room numbers to assign, then you may go back on GTY status.

This is one of the reasons that I will not accept a GTY room. The times we have cruised with DCL, I always have picked out the cabins. One fear I had when I saw that you could book the GTY is that I was always afraid they would give me a cabin I did not like as much (Have to be careful with my wording here as every cabin on the ship is certainly wonderful and it is nice just to be on the cruise regardless of the room). With the GTY booking, uyou are taking a gamble, sometimes it pays off in an upgrade, sometimes it pays off in getting a cabin you like, and other times you are given a cabin that does not meet your needs. I do not think you can get this changed if your cruise is already full but heres throwing some pixie dust your way that things will work themselves out. - Mike

Please pardon my ignorance but what is a GTY? I see that abbreviation everywhere but I cant figure it out.

Thanks in advance

GTY = guarantee :teeth:

As in, I buy a Cat.9 on a GTY, I will atleast end up with a Cat.9, but wishfully I might get a Cat.8 :wave:

GTY stands for a GUARANTEED category on the ship, but they do not have a cabin number to assign you yet. They usually offer GTY status when they overbook a particular category.....just like airlines over book seats sometimes.

With a GTY reservation you are guaranted to have the category you paid for but sometimes you are upgraded to a higher category....you would never get a lower category than what you paid for. This happens when not as many people cancel at the last minute than disney anticipated and then they move you up to a higher category for the same price.

It was not a silly question at all....how would you know unless you asked!!!!

Thank you DMS_cruisers04 & mmouse37

Most of my questions I can find answers to, if I search long enough on the board, but this one had me stumped!

Its not the getting along I'm concerned about, it's her kids (OUTTA CONTROL) and this is a vacation. If the kids know that they are in the next room to them and their kids it will be a nightmare. You would never think they were related. Our Family members dont take heed to hearing that they should control their kids better. I just hope they can change the room. Thanks for the pixie dust!

reses4...... just so you know..........

If the kids are that OUTTA CONTROL and whoever is in the room next to the OUTTA CONTROL kids calls Guest Services enough times about them , they could be forced to leave the ship at the next port. DCL does reserve the right to put you ashore for "bad behavior". How you get home from that port is entirely your problem, not theirs.

I'm sure they'll be fine, but here's hoping you get your change. I put myself back on gty status as well so I'm assuming I won't find out until we check in (or whatever you call it when you get on a ship) what room we're in.

They are not bad with others, just when they are with their own family members do they act out. My older kids are in the next room to them and they just don't want to be bothered. They will be trying to get in the next room if they know they are there. i am upstairs and hopefully she will not allow them to roam the boat. I went last year and some of the kids made hers look great. They were running around and playing with the elevators. i personally feel under the age of 12 should not be allowed to roam the boat alone but thats just my opinion.
