Hi,

I am getting ready to cancel our package for the first week of October and book a room only for the first week of December with AAA. I have known for awhile that we would change dates so no probs. Never been around Christmas, so we are pretty excited. :thumbsup2

My question is this. If I cancel and then book the AAA room through Disney, will the deposit or part of the $200 be transferred to the room only, or will they refund that and I will in turn have to pay a room deposit?

Not sure how that works. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Denise

I know that if you change from a room only reservation to a package, they cancel the room only, refund your deposit and ask for a new deposit for the new package reservation. I assume that in the reverse they do the same thing.

Money cannot be transferred from a package to a room only or viseversa. It will be cancelled and refunded and youll put the first nights deposit on your room only

Yep, that's right. If you want to use the money from the existing reservation, simply tell them to "hold" the room-only reservation you are creating so that you can wait for the funds to be credited back to your account. The funds will take 2 to 4 business days to be credited back to your account.

That is actually a good idea. Never thought of that. Maybe this way I won't be out $450 in one shot. I have gotten refunds from Disney before and it has only taken a couple of days. Maybe cause I use a local bank that has branches in FL and in GA. But then again, what do I know? :3dglasses

I also agree that some banks suck! ;)

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Also beware that I wanted to add an additional night for our trip in early December at the AAA rate and I was told the AAA rate was no longer available. Of course, YMMV based on the date and location.

I'd like to add to the responses that if any of your payments were made with a check then Disney can then transfer those payments to the new reservation. Of course the payments made with a credit card need to be refunded. If insurance was added to the package and it has been more than 14 days since the reservation was made (which in this case it sounds like it was) then the insurance is nonrefundable.
