Changing cash ressie to points

Hey all,

If I made a reservation to stay at OKW using cash, can I later change it to use points? I am looking at January of 05 and am currently thinking that it will be easier to pay cash this trip, but I want to know if I will have the option to change my mind. The reservation desk seemed to think it would probably be fine, but I was curious to know if any of you had ever done this.

Is the cash reservation at the member discount rate through MS or from CRO inventory? Cancellation of a reservation made with CRO would not necessarily return the room to points inventory. On the other hand, MS has more flexibility in this regard, since it seems their priority is to satisfy member point bookings first and rent discounted rooms to keep occupancy up when vacancies are anticipated. A points reservation should be available so long as there is no waiting list at the time. January would not appear to be so popular that it should cause a problem.

What you propose cannot be done directly. It still might be able to be done indirectly. You cannot just convert a cash reservation to points. But if what you want is available for points, you can schedule it then cancel the cash reservations. Make sure you schedule it first for points before you cancel anything, just in case.

i was told by ms that cash rooms are different then using points for the rooms, and if the rooms that are booked with points are gone , not available then i cannot switch my cash room to use points. right now i have a 2 bedroom for my stay using cash, i didnt have enough points, so i booked the room for cash, as of now i would have to move out of my 2 bedroom that i am using points and move inot another room 2 bedroom for the cash night.

i now have the points so i called ms and the 2 bedroom for points was still available, so i was able to link the last night with my ressies and staying on points for the entire stay now, i wont have to move.

i would book on cash but as soon as you know if you want to use points call to see if the room is still avaiable for points.
