changing borrowed points for current points

I'm looking at borrowing August 2025UY points for a March 2025 trip. I am using my August 2024UY points for trips in February 2025 and April 2025.

I know that once the August 2025UY points ae borrowed they are stuck in the 2024UY ending July 31st, 2025.

If my March trip fell through, would I be able to swap out my borrowed 2025 points for my current 2024 points so that I could bank them and then they'd have an expiration date of July 31st, 2026?

I just want to make sure before I go ahead and borrow points before making this reservation.

So you’re going in
Feb on 2024 points
March on 2025 points
April in 2024 points?

If you cancel the March trip at least more than 30 days prior to check in, you can swap the points online or with MS for your April trip.

If you cancel your March trip at least more than 30 days before check in for your Feb trip, you can swap the points for the Feb trip. Again you will be able to do it online or MS can do it for you.

To swap the points online, after you’ve canceled the March trip, you modify the April trip, don’t change anything, and then on the screen where you verify the contract you want to use, make sure you have it select the borrowed points (it should default to switching to them but check to make sure).

To clarify, you must cancel at least 31 days in advance, not 30 to avoid holding...

One extra thing I noticed in the DVC info home resort regs was that if you have borrowed points and buy an add on contract for the same resort, you can substitute those new points for the borrowed points and restore the borrowed points. Don't think I had heard of anyone doing that before

Done it plenty with my add ones, When I bought VGF in 2022, I did a new June UY membership and added on to my Dec UY membership.

When I called about putting back some borrowed Dec UY points, they not only did that, but they put back some of my AuG UY borrowed points, since I now had June UY ones that could be used.

I hadn’t expected that…now, we did have to do a cancel and rebook since it was on a different membership…and it was far enough out the room was still there….in order to free up the borrowed points,

But it is a great little perk! Was hoping to add on this year, and put back, but alas, we decided I needed to show restraint give the upcoming wedding next year! Lol

Question along these lines. Going through adding another contract (Contract B) at the same resort, same UY as an existing contract (Contract A). Both contracts have banked points.

Currently we have a home resort reservation this fall (booked just after the 7 month mark, didn't get our resale points quickly enough) that uses some current UY points and all the banked UY points both off Contract A.

Once Contract B is added to our account can I swap out the current UY points used from Contract A with banked points for Contract B? And if so, can this be done without jeopardizing losing our reservation in the process? (ie, is this a release and rebook situation?)

Sounds like maybe the "modify, but no actual changes" might be the idea but this is new territory and I haven't a clue on how to do it or if it's possible. It's a 2-bedroom reservation with extended family joining us so I really can't mess this up! Thanks for guidance.

Just modify your trip, and be sure both contracts are checked to be used. Follow to the end and when you have rebooked, go to the points summary and you will see all banked points have now been used.
