My Dad just passed away, and we want to ask Mom to join us on our upcoming BCV stay. We have a 2BR so space is no problem, but the DDP ressies have been in place for a few months already.

Is it difficult to change existing ressies from 4 to 5? Also, when is it too late to add Mom to the Dining Plan? I think 2 weeks before arrival, is this correct?

Alternatively, could we just arrive to our ADR meals and just explain that we have a fifth joining us? Would they normally accomodate such a change?

Thanks for your help...

It is harder going from an even number to an odd number (a 4 top table can accomodate 3 or 4, but not 5)

People have reported mixed results on showing up with additional people. I would try calling and see what your results are.

It is very nice to bring Mom. (ANother benefit, have you thought about an adult night out and let Mom have the kids for a night?)

Thanks for the suggestion - I hadn't thought of that... I have been going to Disneyworld since 1993 and have yet to experience Pleasure Island, or the Dueling Pianos on the boardwalk, maybe this is the year!

The dining reservations are done based on tables, not people. Your current reservations are for a table for four. Adding one extra person would mean adding a table for two to the reservation. So the restaurant would need to have one table for four and one table for two available at the same time. You could get lucky at some places and that extra table for two will be available for your exact time. At others, you might have to change your times. At the worst, you will have to make alternative plans. Call and see what they can do.

Some restuarnts might have a table for six that is available but those are harder to come by.

It's not advisable to show up with five people when your reservation is for four. The restaurant then has not had any advance notice that a table for two needs to be open and available along with a table for four. You probably could still get seated but you would have to wait.

This has happened to us in the past. My mom lives in Orlando and sometimes she will want to join us for dinner (when I haven't planned on her being there). Upon arrival for our ADR, I have notified the host/hostess and have never had a problem. YMMV.
