We are sailing in Nov. and wonder if anyone knows exactly what will be taking place to Magic while in drydock. Does anyone know if they'll be re-carpeting?? Refurbishing??

i dont know if this is true or not but i heard they r going to move kids club to espn spot and do away with espn club....

More specifically,
I was led to believe that the ESPN sports lounge was going to be converted into a teen dance club, due to low usage. Bummer, because it was one of my favorite places on the ship. Still wondering if I can get my old ESPN mug refilled elsewhere on the ship for the lower price. Hey 99, sorry to hear you're a stock holder.
Must have been a rough few years for ya lately in (DIS)

I heard that the ESPN bar was being moved to the Third floor???

I too am hoping they will refill my ESPN mug.

I believe it goes into drydock in either Sept. or Oct. (I think it's October). Just wondering about the "newness" of it. I did hear the same rumors about the ESPN bar too. My husband will die--we're on it during football season.

the october 11th cruise is the first one after the dry dock and i think is just a week long... peter

Barb I wouldn't worry about it, you are weeks after the scheduled dry dock and even if they found a hole in the hull they could fix it by then!!:)

The reason I read for the drydock is that here was corrosion on the bottom, and the paint used in an attempt to fix it didn't. Also, when ships drydock their running gear (thrusters, stabilizers, props, struts, and rudders are due for service).

The last sailing before dry dock is 9/20/03 and the first sailing back will be the 10/11/03 sailing.

A dry dock is just part of the routine maintenance of every ship. They also use the time to refurbish the interior and make any changes. I was on the first Magic cruise after the last dry dock in 2001 and at that time they re-did Rockin' Bar D totally with a new design, they expanded Flounder's Reef and they did extensive recarpeting throughout the ship. :)
