Changes to Garden Grill and LTT

GRRRR!!!

I had missed this little tidbit on the DIS, and just read about it on Deb's site.

We happen to have a lunch ADR booked for Garden Grill, for Lunch, on 12/11.

Of course, now we have to try to find a TS place, in Epcot, well under the 180 day mark, for lunch....and one we don't already have booked for another meal, preferably (which rules out Akershus, Chefs de France, and Coral Reef). DW is NOT into Biergarten or Marrakesh.

DW is calling now...we're going to try for Le Cellier (fat chance!) and then Rose and Crown. If all else fails, we'll book San Angel, and call as often as possible to try to find SOMETHING else.

How frustrating......

Edit: Looks like we're going to be Brits that afternoon!!! Rose and Crown it is. Even got the same time.

No Characters? We would still go to LTT with or without. I love love love the rolls, salad, and stuffing! I'm craving it right now!!!

LOL, I agree. I kept reading all these people saying that LTT and GG had mediocre food and I was thinking I must be strange because we LOVE it. We always have supper at LTT and GG on our trips. Mmmmm, their strawberry dressing on that salad...yummy! I know that LTT is supposed to be all Stouffers stuff (the same in the freezer section, who knows?) but still we enjoy it.

I just read the news also in allears. Has anyone heard if they are thinking about offering another character dining new of some sort to take its place. I just find the removal of this strange, especially when all character dinings are hard to make reservations for. Will that Chef Mickeys the character dining with the traditional characters?

I have both of these booked. GG for lunch and LTT for dinner. Thank God the timeline doesn't affect us but it will be bittersweet having our "last character" meal inside LTT and knowing we can no longer have lunch at our favorite place in Epcot! We will not dine at LTT once they take the characters away.

I have seen here and there that a new Pirates themed restaurant is being added over in Adventureland. Not sure if it'll be TS or CS or even if this is for real, but the timelines do add up. According to what I read the Pirates rest will open sometime this Fall?

I for one would love more choices. It seems like the same characters are at every meal. Maybe Disney is about to change it around a little. I'd love to see a Toy Story/Pixar meal over at DHS. Maybe something with the Lion King/Jungle Book over at AK. Let's hope something good will come out of this!

1) Here is a "ya, but . . ."
2) How many TS eateries are in MK that are not character meals?
3) They need more non-character eateries in MK.
4) Not everyone wants to eat with characters for every TS meal.
5) Plus, not everyone wants to eat in "all-you-can-eat" restaurants.
6) So, this is really a good thing!

NOTE: A menu change has not been announced for dinners, but I could easily imagine the all-you-can-eat will disappear and it will be like an upgraded lunch.

I think its a great idea - personally it has gone downhill since our first dinner there in 2005...I think Disney needs to keep changing add new attractions, meals etc. to keep us coming back. If its always the same-we'll get bored andcomplain about that too. They'll add something new and we'll all love that as much...I am happy about the change. Last dinner there - my bday in November I thought it was terrible. I told my DH thank you-and never again. SO I am excited to see whats next..

I just called about my 12/10 Garden Grill CP package, which is @ 4:10 for the 6:45 show. The CM said it is not affected by this since it is a CP package (and it is technically a dinner ressie).

Thank goodness! I have the same exact reservation at GG for the CP dinner package, except on Sunday, 12/14. I wasn't sure if my ADR would get axed or not, so now I can relax.

My family and I also enjoyed the characters. In fact, it was the main draw for us. However, my husband and son both enjoyed the food. We are sad to see it go!

I'm so sad. For the past 3 special events I've been to at the MK (P&PP and MNSSHP) this is where we've eaten before and it's become a tradition. This was also the best character meal that I've been to as far as character interaction since they always came to our table 2 or 3 times. I loved the food too! I know they're not completely getting rid of the food, just the characters, but it won't be the same. It's especially hard since I dislike change.

Ok, so I have been sad about this simply b/c it is a family tradition for us for the 3 years we have gone. We always go our first night and ds5 just loves the characters. We always get such great interaction there so it is nice.

Now, for the meal itself.. I have never cared for it so if we are actually looking at this turning into a nicer meal than I am more open to the idea. I would love to see a menu to order from and more items to pick from for dessert instead of being stuck with the apple cobbler stuff since I don't like it..lol

I love the atmosphere and feel of LTT so I hope that will not be changed.

I guess we will see what happens with it. We will be eating there one last time this Sept so we will enjoy the characters there one last time and then hope that we see something great next time we go b/c I would love to still eat there but with more and better dinner options to pick from.

Now again, if the characters go but the food does not change there is no way I will be back!

This has been going on for days. Most of the threads were moved to the rumor board. Many people, including myself, have called Disney dining and the information has been verified. (along with the removal of characters at GG)

Regarding the LTT - strangly, in about 12 trips that span over 25 years, I've never eaten at the LTT.
