First cruise for my family (1st Disney cruise for me) -- my DH and I are concerned about the second seating assignment for a variety of reasons:

1) DS(5) and DD (2-1/2) need around 10 hours of a sleep a night to function the next day -- used to 8:00 PM

2) being seating with people who don't want whiney kids at dinner

3) missing dinner frenquently b/c our kids poop out early

Our TA has us on a waiting list for 1st seating. Do you usually get that request? Is there anything I can do to help change it?

Just have your TA keep checking! This was our stituation last May with our 4.5 year old son. Even though he is a nightowl, we really didn't want to chance the 8:30 dinner seating, which means getting your food about 9:00. We were waitlisted for early seating and were able to get it changed prior to getting docs.

Good luck.

We did early seating on our first cruise - this time with two families and kids 12. 13, 15 and 17 we opted for late - booked in August and somehow got moved to early - no prob to change on boat first day but it was tough even for the adults - eating at 9 is soooo late - we ended up eating an extra meal around 3 or 4 just to get by - some nights the kids just ordered room service but they were old enough. I would beg for early.

You did not mention a sailing date. I am assuming your cruise is coming up soon because your TA has not been able to change your dining reservations. Once aboard the ship you may have better luck, but be warned you'll have to act fast, like being the first in line on the day of embarkment. If your sailing the Magic they do offer dinner most nights at Topsider, serving starts at 7:00 pm. There is free room service, Pinocchio's Pizza and Pluto's Dog House.
Good Luck and have fun.

We too were down for late seating and TA tried to change it before we left but couldn't. We planned to try when we arrived but when we checked in they had already changed it to early seating, it was on our KTTW. Maybe you'll get lucky and that will happen to you too.;)

We sailed on the 4 day Wonder last Jan. We were assigned to late seating and at the time my son was 3years old. After we boarded I ran right to the place to have dinner time changed. We were 2nd on the list. We talked to everyone we could think of to have the seating changed including the head waiter. No luck, we were stuck with 2nd seating and it was tough. We ended up getting our food at 9pm which is his bedtime. He ended up being very cranky at dinner and never ate real well. BTW, I seen the 1st person on the list and her seating wasn't switched either. I know there are other dining options, but who wants to eat pizza vs. what they would serve in the dining room. We did not pay all that money to eat pizza for dinner. Believe me, I'm not trying to sound negative or scare you and your kids may be different but we had a very difficult time at late seating. We are going on a 7 nighter in Nov. 2003 and one of the reasons I booked so far in advance was to assure early seating. Good Luck!
