Hi everyone!! Well I had a ressie for POR AB for Dec 1 THRU 7 w dining until the free dining code...so now we are going to CR waterview garden wing Sept 28 thru Oct 3...this is one day short of my previous trip planned but due to kids missing school I thought I would shorten our trip by a day. We have 4 day tickets w this and I am spending the same amnt of money going to CR for a day less w free dining. I was concerned from the beginning that the POR AB section would not be big enough for us, a family of 5...I more than anyone in the family like my space :) I liked the queen beds and day bed idea better than the trundle. I am concerned because I have read some negatives about the CR and have never heard anything bad about POR AB...maybe I will get an updated room, who knows. I know with three young girls I was majorly concerned about being able to swim in the pools and Dec might have been chilly... I was looking forward to the decorations in Dec but maybe next time. I can't pass up a deal like this can I??? I kinda like the art deco theme of the CR and kinda thought my young kids would not appreciate the Orleans theming of the POR, actually they'd porbably love ASMO or POP but they would not gurantee a joining room so I nixed that right away. I am also excited about the location of the CR!!! Monorail resort is a great thing for families w small kids I hear...plus I am more impressed with CR dining options because we will be going to Chef Mickeys for dinner, Concourse for another dinner and CRT for a lunch...what do you all think of my plan change? :confused3

I think your change of plans sound great. POR is a beautiful resort and I like the theming much better than the Contempory, but I will probably not stay there again because you could end up really far from the store, food court, pool area, and being close to that hub is important to us. Although you could certainly be comfortable at POR, you can be VERY comfortable at CR. If your children are young, the monorail will be a great help. All of the resorts have their pros and cons, so our goal is to try all of them and judge for ourselves!

Have a great trip!

Hey! We will be there from Oct 1-6, and we too have Garden Wing/Water View booked. Maybe we will see you there. We are a family of 5 too. It's ME, DH, DS 7, DS 5, and DD 3. We really like the dining options at CR too as well as the monorail and close proximity to MK. I think it was a great idea to switch. I've heard the rooms are a lot bigger, which will be a welcomed change from our last trip to WL (it was pretty claustrophobic).

I think your new plans are great!! Last year we stayed at POR, and took forever to walk anywhere. The refill mugs didn't even get used because I was too lazy to walk all the way to the food court. You will be much happier at CR. :flower:

thanks so much for the replies!!! Hey zipadedoodah maybe we will see each other there!! I have three girls 5,7,9... and I need a non smoking room (medical resons) and asked to be ground level and south wing...we'll see!!!!
We will be there sept 28 thru Oct 3!!!
I am so happy now with my choice, I just read terrible reviews on the rooms at the CR but I can't beat the location and I got a great price, I feel!!!
2300 for all 5 of us plus tix plus dining??? Can't go wrong with a big family...we need the extra space at CR. Have any of you eaten at the CR? I would like to try all the restaurants there, we will be doing Chef Mickeys for dinner the first night...CRT lunch the next day at MK, and would like to try the Grill during a fireworks show somehow....and the steakhouse too!!! I like the options of food they have there, heard great reviews on the food...

We have eaten at all of the restaurants there and really like them all. Chef Mickey's is my boys' favorite restaurant at Disney, and my DH and I really like Concourse Steak House. It's been awhile since we have eaten at California Grill (before the kids) but really liked it when we did. When I called to make a PS for our trip in July the CM told me it's not very kid friendly and suggested another restaurant with the kids, so it would be interesting to hear about other people's experience with kids there.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for rehabbed rooms! Maybe we'll get lucky. We too have non-smoking room booked. It's gonna be a fun trip!
