I called to change a person in our room and was assured that everything could be transferred over. I received an email with the change but it never showed up in MDE. I called to have that fixed and spent 15 minutes on hold while they fixed it. I thought it was done, but yesterday I checked Fastpasses and saw that they had all been lost. So, where we had 4, now we only have 3. I called to have those added back and it couldn't be done. Sure, they could make new ones just like I could, but there was nothing to be done to add back. So now, 3 of us can ride 7DMT but one can't. And most of our times for other rides don't match. I am so frustrated! And I can't believe that there isn't a way to fix it since it was their mistake. I made FP on the day it opened for us and had a good plan and now have to figure it all out again. We leave in 5 days, so not much time left. I love planning but this is too much!

So sorry this happened to you.
It mirrors many other reports of FP+ lost by Disney-made changes in reservations.

The lesson here for others is to NOT bother to make non-essential changes
in reservations (like names of guests.) It simply doesn't matter if "Bill Smith" comes instead of "John Brown."

Again, so sorry for your loss of FP+.

So true! Don't change anything that isn't necessary. This was a necessary change and I was so careful to ask when I called and so assured that it was done all the time and would be fine. I'm over my initial frustration (mostly) and am working to make changes so it all fits together somehow.

How many days to your trip. If over 30, the person you removed is not eligible for FP+ as they are viewed as being offsite.

Sorry! I removed daughter 1 from our room and replaced her with daughter 2. I was told that the original FP+ would transfer to daughter 2. Instead they were cancelled and not replaced. The daughter I removed is offsite now and made her own FP+ . Our trip is in 5 days so I'm scrambling to pull it all together. I'm creating a spread sheet with everyone's times so we can keep it straight. There are 4 in our room, 2 offsite, and 2 at SoG so there's a lot to keep straight. My main complaint was that I was given wrong info in the beginning.

What was necessary about switching one name for the other? Did Daughter 1 have her own MDE account originally?

Original plan included DD1 in our room. DSIL is attending a conference and staying offsite. (That's the whole reason we are coming at this time.) DD2 was added later due to a change in her schedule. I left DD1 listed in our room with plans to buy DD2's ticket separately. DD2 will actually be in the room and DD1 will stay offsite with husband. (DS is also in our room). I wasn't going to change anything for fear of messing up FP+. Then DD1 and husband decided to fly which had them arriving a day earlier. That meant DD1 needed a ticket separate from the one connected to our room so she could use it earlier. So, I called and asked how complicated it would be to change and was assured that it would be no problem. But, it's all going to work out! We have 3 nights on site and then 4 nights at Bonnet Creek, with DD1 and DSIL moving over with us.
I just wondered if it's really true that no one can fix an error that one of the cast members made. The person who made the name change on MDE was the one to make the changes on the Fastpasses. Something went wrong at that point but I didn't realize it for a few days. I hope this makes sense-it's complicated, I know!

I don't know why they would have told you the FP would transfer- from everything I have seen and heard that is not what happens so when you needed to change the person on the room and ticket you were going to lose FP for that ticket from every experience I have ever had with it. It seems to me the person who made the mistake was the one who told you is could be done in the first place. One thing to note is that many of those answering the phones have no first hand experience with anything at the park.

With the glitchy and unreliable system WDW has in place...
just don't make waves.
If you have things set... if at all possible, just leave them alone.

1. Guests can activate WDW Resort Package tickets up to 3 days BEFORE check-in.

2. Sorry, but time and again, the reports on these boards is that once a difficult-to-get FP+ has been "lost," it can't be returned.

3. Yup. Hindsight is 20-20, but I want to make sure anyone reading this takes a lesson... Don't make changes that are not necessary.
And, regardless of what you are told by a "CM on the phone," it can be of great value to come HERE and ask the question before making a critical error all based on bad info from a "phone CM."

Very sad, but it's true.
