HAND BAGGAGE UPDATE

Please be aware, Airline Network have been asked as part of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards, to inform our customers about the size restrictions on hand baggage.

In line with the DfT's recommendations, we will be encouraging passengers to check-in any hand baggage which exceeds the following dimensions:
56cm (22in) long x 45cm (18in) wide x 25cm (10in) deep.

Customer Service Agents will be available in all Airport terminals to assist with this campaign.

These Agents will be approaching customers who have oversized hand baggage to inform them of the standards.

Remember, if your hand baggage exceeds the above dimensions, regardless of weight, you will be asked to check this luggage in or leave it behind! If you check it in, this may result in you exceeding your baggage allowance and incurring excess baggage charges.

What were the previous restrictions?

I can't remember being allowed to take anything larger than that in the past - unless you count the budget airlines who've been trying to make you carry on all your luggage to save money on baggage handlers. It would affect them the most ?

That's still a huge piece of hand luggage and not something I would like lug round the airport and onto the plane :)

I prefer to travel with as little hand luggage as possible :)
