Change an existing FP up until when?

On my trip I tried to change a FP that we no longer needed(short SB) to another experience or time; we were already about 2 minutes into our FP window and the MDE app no longer showed that FP. It was definitely not used and nowhere near the expiration time. Was this one of the many glitches I experienced of the MDE app or do you have to change before your window ever opens up?
