You can't see the MK fireworks from the CG wine room. Dh and I used to love to dine there because it tended to be a bit more quiet than the main room. You can see the electrical water parade from there, but most definitely not the MK fireworks. You might be able to see a little bit of Illuminations, but it is very far away.
Lately, when we have dined in the CG wine room, the room has always had children. One night it was a couple of families at 3-4 tables put together in the middle of the room. There were kids everywhere -- running around, making noise, etc. So, no doubt if you ask, you can be seated with children in the CG.
But, no worries. Apparently, all children are extremely well behaved and just love escargot and foie gras. That's what I got out of the Bistro thread!
Never mind that our last meal in the Jiko wine room a few months ago included a large family with 5 babies and toddlers. The toddlers rolled all across the floor from one end of the room to the other laughing and shouting all the way. Then, they would roll back. This was at 10 pm.
Then, the toddlers started swinging on the hanging beads that cover the wine room windows. That's when the manager came in and told the parents they had to keep the kids in their seats. If they hadn't swung on the beads, nothing would have been done about how disruptive the kids were. I guess the toddlers were nibbling on their ahi tuna and lamb loin in between sommersaults across the room. Right.
By the way, if you have dined in a private room at CG and seen the MK fireworks, you were in the room where they hold F&W Festival events. That room is smaller than the CG wine room and has a dead-on view of MK and the MK fireworks. It is not available to the public generally, but is used for special events and private parties.
It also used to be possible to eat in the CG bar area and see the fireworks. Dh and I once decided to go up to CG and have wine and canapes in the bar and were pleasantly surprised when the fireworks started. We had a great view. That was, however, before the internet and the
DDP and the "gotta see the fireworks" insanity. Now, the bar area doesn't really exist and, to the extent it does, it's crowded with tons of people waiting for tables.
