How well do cell phones work in the Parks? Obviously they probably do not work well inside the ride buildings, but how about outside? (FYI, I use Verizon Wireless)

Thanks!

We use verizon too and have had no problem using them at WDW. Haven't tried inside an attraction for obvious reasons but outside it is a great way to coordinate.

...we had bad luck in the resorts.

We brought our cell with us during our recent trip to Coronado Springs, and had ZERO luck using it in the room, or even in the parking lot. Once we got on the main roads, we could finally make a call.

Maybe it was our carrier? We use Sprint.

We have always had great luck with our cells in WDW. The only time we dropped a call was walking across the MGM parking lot talking to my daughter back in Chicago. My husband and I used the phone to locate each other everywhere throughout the World. My husband actually called our daughter when we were in line (inside) at Tower of Terror to tell her I was getting on the ride. I have Cingular and he has AT&T.

My husband just reminded me that we did have trouble using our cells in the hallways at the BC but not in the room itself.

My husband and I also have Verizon Wireless and have never had a problem. In fact, he had forgotten to put his cell phone on silence before going onto TOT and as the elevator was going up it rang and he was able to talk briefly to our nephew who had just passed the test to become a licensed electrician.

We have Cingular and had no problem keeping in touch at the parks. There were maybe two times at the AKL where I lost my signal, but it wasn't a big deal. Of course, when you are sitting on your balcony eating breakfast and watching giraffes and ostriches, do you really mind if your phone cuts off? :D

We have Nextel. We had great signal everywhere except Disney-MGM. In that park, service would come and go in different locations. We had trouble at the Fantasmic theater. My DH was trying to locate me at the snack area so that we could walk in to seats together. The phone kept cutting in and out.

Sorry we must have posted at the same time. Thanks TLHB70!

I think it depends. We also have Verizon Wireless and had intermittant service. MGM was difficult, and EPCOT was sporadic. We were with a large group so we were constantly trying to locate each other. I don't know what some of the others in our group had for service, but it seemed we got voicemail most of the time and had to leave messages back and forth rather than talking direct. We were able to access cells, however. Our Verizon plan covers Florida, so had it been just me and my husband, I'm sure our calls would have been fine. I think when other services are in the mix, it gets more difficult. Our group probably should have rented walkie talkies instead.

I use Cingular and had a hard time getting a signal in POR. (Would not work in my room, barely worked elsewhere on property).

I didn't try it anywhere else, though.

I have SPRINT and had no problem at the resorts (ASMu, ASMo), and never had too much of a problem within the parks (though I didn't really use it too much in the parks anyway).

Three of us all had Verizon at Thanksgiving and never had any problems except in the ride buildings.

We have Verizon, too, and we had no trouble in the parks. We actually got great reception there. Our room was another matter, though. We had to step outside.:)

I have Verizon wireless as well. I've never had a problem in the parks or in our BWV room.

I asked this question on a different thread but never got a reply....does anyone have any experience with Alltel as a carrier in the parks???? Thanks!

My sister and I both have singular and we both got great reception in all the parks. We used them when trying to meet up for meals etc. We also didn't have any trouble calling between FW campground where I was staying and Port Orleans where she was staying.

DW and I are both Verizon users and we have had hit or miss service in most of the parks, and for service at OKW we would have to stand by the window. The upside is was it was harder for my office to call me :teleport: :teleport: :teleport:
