I have been researching cell phones for over 2 months now. I am completely and totally confused as to what to get.

I want a Smartphone with web browsing capabilities. Mainly to check weather radars while we are camping, things like Facebook etc.... nothing major. I don't need a ton of minutes as I don't actually call anyone on my phone much. My current plan has 100/month and I never ever go over.

So after much research I decided on the Blackberry Bold 9700, but it's too expensive for me to buy right now. Which is fine I could wait. But now Bell (Canada) has an offer for the Palm Pre - $35.00/month, 200 local minutes, 500 MB of data, unlimited weekend & nights, unlimited texts...

And then..... Futureshop has the Blackberry Bold 9700 on for $0.00 on three year contract with Rogers - $50.00/month for pretty much the same thing. AND a $50.00 g/c for Futureshop.

I don't know what to do!!!!! In the long run I'd be saving $540.00 with the Palm's cheaper month fee, the savings on the Blackberry with the g/c totals $200.00.

Someone make a decision for me please!!!!

Hi
I can't help with your choice. I got the same offer from Bell.
Have you checked at Costco? They have several smart phones and 2 only phones. When I checked this week the girl said to wait until Sep/Oct if I could as there are a lot of offers with back to school. My son loved the palm pre & wants me to get it. I found the letters really smalll for my old eyes.

I have a Palm Pre...and I can't even figure out how to answer it! So if you are technically challenged like me, don't get it. It is similar to the iPhone, but I don't think it is as easy to use and doesn't have as many aps.

I've had a Palm and currently have a Blackberry Curve. I would go with the Palm in a heartbeat.

My husband had (and my coworker has) the Palm and both HATED it and have said it is the worst phone they have ever had. My husband got a Blackberry a couple of months ago and loves it!

I love my Palm Pre. I've had it for a year and it's been great to me. I actually find it to be easier to use than an IPhone, but maybe that's because I'm so used to the way the Pre works.

The palm has a touch screen, the blackberry does not... In my area the palm costs less. Additionally, the palm pre can be used as a wifi hotspot if allowed by your service provider... not sure about Canada. My providor is not allowing with the pre , but allows "Tethering" with the blackberry. (I can hack the pre to allow "tethering"). I chose the Palm Pre Plus... still waiting for it to show up. Hopefully it will meet my expectations. The biggest thing that swayed me was the cost differce (100.00) and the Pre has a touch screen.:hippie:

I got my Palm Pre the first day it was issued. It lasted about 8 months and started falling apart. I used it consistently. The last few months I could only use my phone on speakerphone because the internal earpiece stopped working. I just got the EVO ater weeks of searching for a store that had it in stock. If I couldn't get the EVO I was thinking of the Blackberry. I did like Sprint TV and the touchscreen. I also could only find 2 covers for the Palm and both were just holders.

My Niece has the Palm Pre and I use to have a blackberry before I switched to an android phone. I absolutely hate messing with her Palm, it is way too complicated for me and I usually have no issues with learning how to use electronic gadgets. I would do the Blackberry if I were you.

I have a palm, and I like it. There are things I still haven't figured out yet, but I really haven't tried to. What I love about it...is that it is a mobile hotspot. I can power my son's netbook and my husband's ipad with it, which was the main reason I got this phone. No more useage fees at hotels, that part works great.
