Hi everyone,

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to read my lengthy post and responds! I was diagnosed with Celiac one month ago after years of feeling like maybe I was just a hypochondriac! I had already made all my ADR's when I found out, so I did call disney dining and alert the cast member of my diagnosis. So far, I cancelled our reservation at Via Napoli due to some information I found while researching. I'm very much looking forward to our trip in November with my husband and two girls--ages 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 because it is their first time and our first time at Food and Wine!

I'm hoping for help in deciding if: 1) I should modify any other reservations.
2) Is there any other information I should carry with me while on our trip in November, 3) do I need to contact special diets or was noting the dietary restriction on the ADR enough? 4) has anyone with celiac eaten at the kiosks in the food and wine festival as I was hoping to do this for dinner one night.

My ADR's
1. Turf Club Bar and Grill at Saratoga
2. CRT for breakfast (I'd rather not eat a Van's frozen waffle as I can get these at home so I'm hoping there are other options)
3. Tusker House (breakfast)
4. Be Our Guest
5. Rose and Crown or Teppan Edo??? Can't decide which since I cancelled Via Napoli
6. Kouzzina
7. Blue Zoo
8. Hollywood and Vine Character Breakfast

Quick Service: I plan on going to Flame Tree because I've read great gluten free reviews but I thought BBQ sauce wasn't gluten free. I am going to Wolfgang Puck express also. Any other excellent quick service meals with a variety of options???

Thanks so much! Any info would be helpful as I'm researching as much as I can!

Relax. It will all be good! DD was dx'd in January and we went in March.

I would keep the Turf Club. THey should be able to accomodate easily.

I have heard that at CRT, there isn't much choice, but I have no personal experience.

They are really good with the buffets. I am not sure if Tusker is a buffet or family style. We went to Boma at the AKL and it was awesome. We also went to Crytal Palace at MK and DD was fed very well.

I am sure they will easily accomodate you at BOG.

I have heard Rose & Crown has GF fish and chips. DOn't know about Teppan Edo. Via Napoli does have GF pasta, but we too, skipped it since DD couldn't have the pizza.

I am not sure about your other choices.

I think you can get a list at Guest Services as to which kiosks at the F&W Festival have GF options.

Everywhere we went, DD was treated like a princess. It was awesome. We didn't do much QS, but they have really good GF chicken tenders. We only noted her gluten problem on ADR's. They were always aware of it when we signed in.

No need to contact special diets since you've got gluten marked on your ADRs already.

You don't need to carry anything with you. Chefs and QS managers are very well trainined in handling gluten issues. It's old hat for them. This will likely be one of the few times you won't have to explain yourself or ask all sorts of questions about what kinds of cross contamination precautions they take because they do train the chefs and managers so well.

Sorry, I have no F&W experience. It's just not a good time for us to head down because of school so we've never been able to go.

We had a great experience at Flame Tree BBQ but my kids don't like BBQ sauce so I don't know if there is any safe stuff or not. Not all BBQ sauce contains gluten. I think I've read that the stuff there does but I haven't paid attention since we want our food without it anyway. The chicken and ribs are really good. The ribs have a tasty dry rub and they're fall off the bone tender and the chicken has nice seasoning and is quite tender. We also got fries, beans and cole slaw which is pretty amazing since we have a boatload of other allergies on top of being gluten free.

Do you have a hibachi style restaurant which can handle gluten issues at home? If not, I'd go with Teppan Edo over Rose & Crown (not that I haven't eaten at either so this is based on looking over menus and reading reviews). This may be your only opportunity to get to experience a hibachi style restaurant and it's a lot of fun. Rose & Crown will be good if you do have a place like this at home so I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with it, but to me an opportunity to try a hibachi style restaurant is something I wouldn't skip if it's something I wouldn't otherwise get to do at home.

At CRT you should get eggs, breakfast meats and fruit and maybe potatoes (can't recall the reviews I've read). I don't know if there's anything else in addition to this and the Van's waffles. We won't do breakfast there because of the limited options and the fact that one of my kids can't have eggs and I can't have pork products so that leaves us with very little and that's a pretty expensive breakfast to have so little food.

Other than that, I can't see anything wrong with any of your ADRs. I often recommend that people with allergies stick to Disney owned restaurants but Teppan Edo and Kouzzina are among the exceptions to that since they've got amazing reputations for allergies. Blue Zoo's menu looks like it has a lot of stuff that would be really easy to modify to be gluten free if they're not already gluten free so it's somewhere I would personally try even with our long list of allergies including gluten.

I went GF on our last trip for the first time. It was amazing and I ate very well.

Don't know about some of the other ressies, but Tusker house is a buffet for breakfast. The chef's there are great and they will even make you gluten free Mickey waffles. I ate very well there without a problem.

We are going again in Sept. Can't wait to go. Disney is one of the only places I feel safe eating Gluten free.

Sorry I don't know about the food and wine either. May some other posters can answer that for you.

Good luck!

We attended F&W last year and I was able to eat from a few booths and had no trouble. I know that we ate (more than once) the fried cheese with honey and pistachios from the Greek booth. Also the white corn arepa from the Florida booth. As it gets closer just google Epcot food and wine 2013 gluten free and you should be able to find a map that lists the GF for F&W. We also ate at Teppan Edo the year before and it was good. We didn't eat there last year because there were so many other restaurants we wanted to try! At Epcot we ate at Biergarten and it was incredible-Chef Jerry came out and walked me through all the stuff I could eat and then brought me potato salad from the back because of the possibility of cross contamination. When he brought that back he also brought me 2 Redbridge beers, a ton of Enjoy Life chocolate chip cookies and a couple of brownies! We also ate at San Angel Inn which was a spur of the moment choice so we didn't have an ADR for it which made me nervous but our waiter was incredibly helpful and the meal was delicious! At Epcot I also had a salad from Sunshine Seasons that was yum! Other places that we really enjoyed outside of Epcot were Flying Fish, Raglan Road and Flame BBQ. Also Babycakes at Downtown Disney was a spot we hit 3 times, just be prepared for the chance of their customer service to not be very good but their donuts make up for that! We ate at 50's Primetime but that was the one meal that I was very disappointed in. We were there for a week and I did not get sick once! Once you have vacationed at Disney you will be spoiled by the GF food! Enjoy!

Agree with previous posters! We were just there last week, DH and DS1&2 are celiac. We LOVE Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House. They have unique dishes that just aren't available at other breakfast buffets. Quite a few of the unique dishes are GF, in addition to the ones you'd expect (bacon, eggs, etc...). Be prepared to enjoy!

We also went to Teppan Edo for the first time this trip based on GF reviews here. They did a really good job with gluten free-they had Kikkoman gluten free soy sauce and set it down right in front of us the minute we sat down. LOL The chef used that to prepare my family's meal, and waited to cook the noodles and the regular soy sauce dishes for the family we shared the hibatchi table with until after my guys' meals were done. The sushi is gf (some seaweed can be soaked in soy sauce, theirs isn't; some are sensitive to potential gluten in the "krab" meat used in California Rolls, my DH is VERY sensitive to gluten and reacts at less than 6ppm, he enjoyed his CA Rolls there very much and didn't get sick!).

DH and I have enjoyed Wolfgang Puck's at DTD a couple of times since he was DX'd. I think we did both the regular restaurant and the express. It's been a while! But they were savvy regarding gluten when DS1 was DX'd back in 2007, before it was trendy. I would trust them still even though I haven't eaten there in a while.

My guys love Flame Tree. Lots of yummy stuff GF. They get the ribs and the chicken. If I remember correctly (and I'm frightened by how much I don't remember, from just last week :P ) the chef gave us single packets of Kraft BBQ sauce.

There are also quite a few options at Rainforest Cafe, if you've considered eating there. Not much by way of dessert for gf, but some pretty interesting entres.
