Thought it would be fun to start a thread in celebrities we've met:

Telly "Kojak" Savalas
Marnie Nixon
Christopher Cross
Captain & Tennille
Sinbad
Gordon Lightfoot
Johnny Townsend ("Smoke from a Distant Fire")

NHL Hall of Famer Bernie Federko was on one of my tours at Meramec Caverns. He's one of my favorite players of all time. :)

Tom Selleck and Whitney Houston.

They both appeared, separately, in ads run by the company for which I worked at that time. There were also more minor celebs, but those were the big ones.

I've also met many politicians, including VP Al Gore and Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was running for Governator. But, I'm not sure they count as "celebs.":rotfl2:

I've met a bunch of minor basketball and football players from the Nets, Giants, etc. years ago.

I've also met all of the political candidates (both parties) from the past 3 elections including Pres. Obama and V.Pres. Biden.

But my favorite is Bruce Springsteen in a small club and yes, he jumped up on stage and played in front of all 12 (!!!)of us!!

I've met lots of b-list celebrities by going to comic cons over the years. Last year I walked out a side door of the Austin convention center and bumped in to brothers from the Walking Dead. They were outside smoking but were nice enough to chat for a bit and take pictures.

I also met Will Ferrell at a charity event that my husband's company was sponsoring. Honestly he was kind of jerky and not friendly. Made me sad since we are fans.

I've seriously lost count.

My FAVORITE by far, well, there is a tie:

Johnny Depp
Mickey Rooney

Oh, and I LOVE Helen Mirren. She's such a wonderful person.

Not very many, mostly bands/musicians for me.

Hanson (more than once)
Kid Rock
Good Charlotte
Sum 41
Ben Jelen
Tyler Hilton
Jesse McCartney
Elijah Wood

I've met ZERO celebrities. I've been close enough to touch (I didn't though!) Harvey Korman, James Brolin, and Gerald Ford.

All of the New Kids on the Block
Mark Wahlberg
Flavor Flav
Jason Hervey (played big brother "Wayne" on the Wonder Years)
Tiffany (pop singer from the 80's/90's)
I was backstage at a NKOTB concert, they were all there

Danny Mann (has done lots of voices for animated films)
When I was in college, my best friend was his neighbor

Oh, can't believe I forgot--George Bush when he was president in 2008! I was at a special breakfast for military spouses at the White house, and a group of about 20 of us took a tour of the white house...all of a sudden a bunch of Secret Service people told us to get against the wall, and in walked George Bush and he shook all of our hands! It was amazing! :)

The Pointer Sisters
Bryan Adams
Barbara Bush

Neat little thread.

I'm into the music acts and Baseball players.

Carrie Underwood
Goo Goo Dolls

John Mayberry Jr.
Placido Polanco
Greg Luzinski

There have been a few more but are a little more obscure.

I used to be a WDW local, so I met quite a few Star Wars related celebrities at the Star Wars Weekends. Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Warwick Davis (Wicket, among other famous roles), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), David Prowse (the guy inside the Vader suit)... You name the Star Wars A- (not quite the 'big guns') or B lister, and I probably met them. My favourites were Mike Quinn (Nien Nunb/puppeteer) and Ray Park (Darth Maul/stuntman). Each of them was sooo nice to one shy, nerdy teenage girl in a sea of thousands of fans in the middle of a hot summer day. I don't even really remember meeting most of the other folks-- just have the autographs and photos to prove it. But those two gentlemen made an impression because they were genuinely warm and kind and didn't make me feel rushed or embarrassed. My crush on Ray Park got a LOT stronger after that experience. ;)

I do also remember meeting Matthew Wood (voice of General Grievous) because he wrote the BEST quotes on stuff he signed. I still have the poster that says, "To [my name] You are dooooooomed! 2006." :D

Billy Mumy ....when I was little I had to go meet Will Robinson.
Brenda Vaccaro... came into our coffee store.
Martin Landau ... enjoying a walk in the woods of Northern California
Corey Haim and Billy Wirth, Didn't meet them but was an extra on The Lost Boys and was using the facility when they came in and used the units next to me.

I've met ZERO celebrities.

I'm glad someone posted that. I can't think of any national or international popular/political culture celebrities I've ever met, either. Threads like this always make me wonder what I've been doing wrong all these years. But it would have to feel natural for me to want to talk to a celebrity. With one exception, I wouldn't just go up to a famous person on the street or in a restaurant and try to meet him/her.

I did meet Chip Davis (Mannheim Steamroller) once back in the '90s, but it's his group more than him that is the "celebrity". I can't even remember what he looked like. That was at a meet-and-greet after a concert. Those are so awkward to me.

My best celebrity interaction was at the last David Bowie concert I went to. I was up front and had made signs to hold up during the concert. He made eye contact and said thank you to me for some of my requests (which were off his then most recent album). His manager came over and took a picture of my sign that said "Thank you for come to Texas", and it was put up on his official website. David Bowie is the one huge celebrity that I would go up to if I were to ever encounter him in an airport or something.

In junior high and high school, I was obsessed with the TV show One Tree Hill. I went to a Tyler Hilton acoustic set in Gainesville one night. He's a pretty egotistical jerk.

I also met James Lafferty from the same show. He smells great and is a very sweet (and somewhat shy) guy.

I ran into Hulk Hogan once. I mean, really ran into him. I was bookin' it past POTC, turned around quickly and SMACK! ran face-first into him. I almost fell down but one of his security guys grabbed my arm and kept me on my feet. Hulk grinned at me and gave me a wave. That's the closest I've ever been to a celebrity.
