Celebrities you've met

Whoopi Goldberg. She was starring in "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" on Broadway about 15 years ago. There was a charity raffle and I was one of the winners and got to go up on stage and greet her and receive my prize: an autographed VHS copy of her film "Ghost."

Met Jennie Garth back in her BH 90210 days at an auto show. Also met the then-current Miss America at the same auto show.

A quick handshake with Barbara Bush while she campaigning for her son.

About 2 dozen or so athletes; the most famous was Bobby Orr. (Retired Boston Bruins star defenseman.)

Seen, but not met, dozens of celebrities, mostly in Broadway shows, and sometimes outside the stage door.

In the "before they were a celebrity" category is former LA Dodger pitcher Orel Herschiser. We went to the same high school and played together on the baseball team. Oddly enough, he was NOT the top pitcher on the HS team.

I just "met" Emma Thompson last night at the LA Premiere of Saving Mr. Banks. She stopped on the red carpet in front of me and grabbed my hand and we had a laugh about why we were there.

We also saw all of the stars from SMB and I do have photos, but I don't have a photo account to be able to post them here. (if there is a way without a photo account, let me know!)

I worked a celebrity golf tournament for a couple of years so I met several of the participants.

I picked up Jim McMahon (Chicago Bears QB from the 80's) from the airport. I was a bit nervous because I had heard he was an ***. I met him at baggage claim and he was really nice. He went to get his bags and as more and more people approached him, I could literally see him tense up. Luckily, he relaxed after we got to the car and we talked for the whole drive. He even made a point to say hello to me when he saw me on the golf course or anywhere else during the tournament. He golfs barefoot. LOL

I also picked up Adam Baldwin. He was my favorite celeb that I met. I wasn't sure who he was when I picked him up. The first thing he said when he got into the car was, "Hi! I'm Adam Baldwin. I am NOT a Baldwin Brother." LOL - Then I realized he was in a favorite movie of mine when I was a kid - "My Bodyguard" with Matt Dillon, Chris Makepeace, etc. I drove him around several times and he even took me to dinner. It was fun and he was a great guy! He mentioned that he was getting ready to film a movie with Mel Gibson and he was looking forward to it. The movie was "The Patriot".

Andy Van Slyke (MLB pitcher) inadvertently caused a huge rift between me and my brother's (at the time) fiancee. My brother had been a big fan of his during his playing days. We were in the drive thru at In N Out and I asked if he would call my brother and say hi. He happily obliged. However, he *jokingly* said that I hated his fiancee...not realizing the fiancee was listening via speaker phone along with their dinner guests. Whoops.

Craig T Nelson - Kind of a jerk. Not very social and smoked in the car everytime. Yuck.

Alex Hyde White - Best known as playing Ralph Bellamy's son, David, in Pretty Woman. He thought he was an a-lister. I didn't have any issues with him, but he chewed out one of the coordinators like he was Joe Moviestar.

Those are the main guys I remember meeting...

My daughter, who has Down syndrome, has been a part of a Down syndrome charity gala. Jamie Foxx is there every year as his sister, Diondra Dixon also has Down syndrome and lives with him. He is the nicest guy and the most fantastic brother to Diondra.

Quincy Jones is also there each year along with other various celebrities. John C McGinley was there this year (he has a son with Down syndrome) but we missed it as I had pneumonia. Darn!

I have met a ton of the Broncos, again through my daughter and all the Denver Bronco cheerleaders know her by name as the same Down syndrome foundation above sponsers a Junior Broncos cheer team of girls, all with Down syndrome. So, they practice with the cheerleaders 2x a month. Not hard to get DH to take our daughter to that practice.

Same daughter chewed out Jim Furyk one afternoon when he left his clubs and other stuff in the middle of the hallway at the Portofino while he stepped back into his room. She was trying to keep up with us as we were checking out, so had her carry-on rolling behind her. His stuff was blocking her way. She politely told him it was rude to block the hallway. (I was a bit mortified).

Liv Tyler - I was at one of the Portofino's Harbor Nights and was chatting with a woman standing behind me in the long champagne line. Very nice person. I had the feeling I had seen her before, but couldn't place her. Later in the night the announcer thanked Liv Tyler for coming that evening. Ding, Ding, that was who I was talking to.

Okay, I've had some help.

Let's see if this works:

This is Walt Disney's Limo that he used as needed. It was the car that took him to the Premiere of Mary Poppins.

Handbag Lady wins for photos! What a night you had :goodvibes.

Thank you SO much for your help. (I'm now jealous of the lady here with the Broncos connection. GO Denver!!!)

I think everyone who is a Disney fan needs to see Saving Mr. Banks. It was shot on the studio lot, how freaking cool is that?

The only one I can think of at the moment is Al Pacino. They were filming Dog Day Afternoon on my block. I also had his autograph.

My DH and I met A. Whitney Brown (of SNL fame) and had a drink with him at the bar of a comedy club.

We also met Dana Carvey at the height of his fame backstage at a comedy club. Super nice guy, funny, charming.

I have met:

Alot of Star Wars Actors & Actresses

Dave Coulier from Full House

Patrick Stewart - various Roles

James & Oliver Phelps - Weasley Twins from HP films

A few sports celebs

thats all that I know of as of now. I will update this when I know more.

I had three on my bucket list when I was a kid and I was so grateful to meet them all..

John Denver
Stephen King
Anne Rice

(I know.. what a list, eh?)

I've met Norman Reedus (he may be the nicest celebrity on Earth, for real) and several of the cast of TWD.

One of my favorites was Josh Gates... he's the same in person as he is on Destination Truth (funny, sarcastic, etc).

I met Sean Patrick Flanery last year. My DH and DD were freaking out because he was a Boondock Saint and I was all "ho-hum." Then I find out he played the part of Powder (in the movie Powder, lol) and I got all goofy and weird and couldn't wait to meet him. :rolleyes1

Back in my cast member days, I met Harry Anderson, Shirley Jones, Daryl Strawberry and "My Other Brother Darrell." All nice people (at least, those who didn't have to stay in character and not speak, lol).

I've worked in hotels in nyc and you'd be amazed who will stay at less than luxury hotels....I'm sure I've missed a few too.

Oh! and Bruce Campbell! twice, 1999 and 2000. Before Burn Notice. And Venus and Serena, Martina, and Chris Evert.

If you count sports stars as celebrities, I interviewed to be Aldon Smith of the 49ers personal assistant. It was between me and someone else. He decided to go with the person "closer to his own demographic". Since then, he has been stabbed at a party he was hosting at his own house, arrested for a DUI at 7 IN THE MORNING after crashing his car in a residential neighborhood, arrested on felony gun charges, and done a stint in rehab. Hope the rehab helps and it will be interesting to. See if he serves any time on the weapons charges...
