Celebrations Magazine

I would echo the points made in the post from Experiment 626. A magazine not sanctioned by Disney will be a better read for hard-core Disneyphiles like many of us here. There have been some terrific publications over the years that did fantastic work on the Disney parks the likes of which you'd never see in an official Disney publication. :earsboy:

Lou is 100% legit and I promise you if he is involved it will be quality... I don't know Lou personally but I do know his work with the books and his podcast as well as the $1000's of dollars he raises to send kids with terminal illnesses to WDW..

For more info, about 3 weeks ago he talked about the magazine and how they are putting it together on his podcast. I ordered then without hesitation and can't wait to get the first copy.

In the world of Disney he is highly respected and often interviews the bigwigs of Disney on his show so they trust him as well...

In Lou's real life he is a very successful lawyer in NJ, one who will give his shirt off his back so anyone who may be worried about this being a scam it is no scam!!

Since its mentioned on his website, we should all be fine.

It may be available in stores, but as the website states, it will be more expensive. I think it said $5 an issue?

Well, I ordered mine today. I get the Orlando Attractions Magazine and enjoy it -- I love magazines! You figure this (6 months) is about the cost of a WDW book and hopefully will be up-to-date and interesting! I'm excited.

Only weird thing is I ordered using PAYPAL and I never got to anything that said what address, etc ... the mag should be sent to -- but PAYPAL has the correct address soooo .... hopefully it will come to me ok.

just ordered my suscription as a birthday gift to my self....my birthday is 13th september so maybe it will arrive for that :thumbsup2

but i am in england so may have to wait a bit longer.......

thanks for letting us know about it :thumbsup2

I would most definitely get a subscription :goodvibes .

Oh man! Now I have three Disney magazines in my regular mail! :cool1:

I hadn't heard of this third one! I just got (finally) the fifth issue of Attractions magazine and it is definitely the strongest one since they started. However Tales is still my favourite - I just ordered all of the back issues which I got on Saturday and I didn't move from my armchair for nearly 5 hours. Just an incredible resource about the creation of Disney attractions.

And I have to applaud Tales' UK shipping! It took only 5 days to get to me!

:yay:

I feel I should have added a big shout-out to Allears.net for the review that made me subscribe to Tales:

I am SO ordering this. I was completely POed when they discontinued the Disney Magazine in favor of a freaking email. Who made *that* decision? :confused3 It's not like we don't know where we can find Disney info online -- it's just that thumbing through a hands-on magazine while you're sitting somewhere AWAY from your computer is so much more appealing.

THANK YOU for this info!
:lovestruc

I hope these are successful... but the Disney Mag was eliminated becasue it was losing money....In this day of internet I just don't know..

(I do get Orlando Attractions and if Lou has a way for me to pay by credit card I will even if it's PayPal. As long as I don't have to open an account. They are not LINKING to anything of mine!)

I want to order this, but just wondering if it gives you there address as to were the magazine would be coming from? Are they right in FL? Sorry for the dumb question, just wanted to know for sure.

If it is a real deal, it sounds like a really cool Disney Magazine!

I soooooooo miss the old Disney Magazine and was sooooooooo very bummed out when they stopped making it.

I have met both Lou and Steve over the years, Mousefest, purchased their books, visited their sites, impeccable credentials. I just ordered.

I just subscribed!! Thank you all for the information - I think I will call it my
"The kids are back in school present!!"

As excited as I would be for a magazine of the sort, am I the only one that is kind of skeptical if this is real or just a scam? The reasons I'm skeptical is because I've never heard of this company, and the only payment choice is PayPal, and it's not officially affiliated with Disney. I think I'll wait it out to hear input once the magazine is actually out before I buy in. :confused3

I feel the EXACT same way. I'm really hoping it's legit though because I want it!:thumbsup2

This is being put out by Lou Mongello (of the WDW Radio Show podcast and author of two Walt Disney World trivia books), Tim Devine (of The Magic in Pixels), Tim Foster (of Guide to the Magic), Steve Barrett (author the Hidden Mickeys Guide books), Cara Goldsbury (author of The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World) and Beci Mahnken (of Mouse Fan Travel). I don't know any of these people personally, but I'm very confident that Lou Mongello isn't running a scam -- and most of the others listed are frequent guests on his show.

You can visit Lou's site at http://www.disneyworldtrivia.com/, and you can find his podcast from there if you're interested. There are several good Disney-related podcasts out there, but Lou's is the best, in my opinion. His love for the parks is obvious and worn on his sleeve.

Personally, I'm glad this is an independent publication and not published by Disney. As good as the official Disney Magazine could sometimes be, it was often too centered on whatever Disney wanted to promote at a given time than on what most interested the writers and readers. This new magazine won't be beholden to such constraints.

Ohhh good to know! I guess I'll go ahead and order now :cool1:

I ordered it on Sept.5( on my birthday)!

Has anyone gotten it in the mail yet?
