Celebration Round Up and BBQ

We are doing it. I am making my PS today on my lunch and will make one for the BBQ and one for WCT. I'm very much looking forward to it!!! YAY!

We love BBQ! I hope we like it too, since we will be in the parks on a "normal" BBQ day I thought it would be fun. :)

DH and I can't wait for this. When I told him how much it cost, he said "So, we're on vacation."

whats so funny is them bringing this back...since I can remember this was big thunder ranch BBQ...same menu except it was buffeteria style and you went and ordered and got your food on trays at covered wagons...it was great...in the middle of the ground they had a deep pit they used as a bonfire and would hillbillies would come over and sing campfire songs at night and of course the petting zoo was there..btw there are sinks at the petting zoo...anyways a few years ago they got rid of it because Disney "thought" (big mistake already) they would turn it into a place where businesses and large parties could book for lunch or dinner and it would be catered...but obviously we know how well that went over...I was so sad they got rid of the bbq because it was a must do each trip...it was great bbq so now it seems theyve brought it back just changed the name and this time its family style and with a show and character photopass ops...plus we know about the kiddy bags...so Im glad..if they are using the same recipe then you wont be disappointed:thumbsup2

My family LOVED when it was Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. In fact, we were so excited when we went to Disneyland on Friday and saw that they'd reopened the BBQ place back there. When we got there though we were incredibly disappointed to see the price. With this economy, what on earth is Disney thinking? Why couldn't they have made it the way it was before where you could pick what you wanted and just that? Heck, they could have left this family style thing as an option, but still had the cafeteria style as well. Plus, I get that there's this whole "ambiance" thing going on, but is it really necessary to charge THAT MUCH per person to eat outside on picnic tables? It CAN be done indoors. They have an indoor BBQ place at Disneyland Paris that works just fine. Anyway, there's not a chance that my family will be eating there in its current incarnation because it's just too expensive, especially considering that my brothers won't even eat half the food they give you. Personally, I'd rather spend that money somewhere like Todai and get all I can eat sushi and seafood which is worth much, much more than BBQ chicken, ribs (which I'm assuming are beef ribs and not the more pricey pork variety) and basic side dishes.

I am so excited about this! I think it looks really fun and am impressed with the goody bags. My boys will be thrilled and they'll totally love the show going on in the sidelines. I won't be paying for a photo but am glad they will take one with my camera.

I think the veggie & tofu skewer looks delicious and totally plan on going that route. I eat a low fat/high fiber diet and I'm afraid if I ate ribs & chicken with skin I would have quite the tummy ache.

Yippee!!!

I'm on the fence about keeping my PS. The food looks good but I'm not sure its worth the $$. Not sure either how two girls (3 & 6) would like the characters. Seems more suited for boys than girls. I'd like to see more about the petting zoo too.

Do you have to eat there to get to the petting zoo? Or is there another walkway to get to the petting zoo? TIA!!

Just FYI, this meal IS all you can eat. They start you out with two ribs/pieces of chicken per person, but you are more than welcome to ask for more if you want it, including the side dishes. :thumbsup2

Right on i had been waiting for someone to say this. My DH is 6'5 and 2 peices and chicken and 2 ribs would not cut it.. lol thanks!
FYI we have done
Lilo's Breakfast
Goofy's kitchen dinnerand Breakfast and my 6 year old barely eats anything regardless of the variety, it's about the experience for us and we will give it a whirl.

We went yesterday. It was okay. Ridiculously expensive, but okay. The food was of average/slightly better than average quality. The lack of choice seriuosly sucks, especially considering the price. If you LIKE all the foods they serve, I imagine it is a decent meal at a decent (for theme park character dine) price. It is all you can eat and we never had to ask for replens, they just brought out what was lacking. I think a more reasonable price would be $25 adult $12 kid (tip/tax included) and at that I think they would have more takers (it was practically a ghost town, even being spring break and at prime lunch hour, 12:30!). The bag the kids got was cute enough. Probably (expensive theme park) value of $8-10 including the cup that the drink comes in. Makes me feel a little better about the fact that one of my kids ate only corn bread, and the other chicken and corn .

Oh, wanted to add that we did love the desserts. Super cute idea and htey were yummy enough (though not amazing or anything). The only bummer was that it is a 'pearranged' selection of flavors. Of course, we all wanted the same one LOL. Looking back, I'm sure we could have asked for more of that flavor seeing as how it was all you can eat, but I literally just thought of that LOL, so something to consider if you are eating there! We did like all the flavors....but I wanted that darn chocolate one!

We got an AP discount. 15%, I think. The bill was just over $100 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Does anyone know whether you can get an AP or DVC discount on the price?

Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders will receive their traditional discount (10% for the Southern California and Deluxe Passes, 15% for the Premium Pass).

The only other discount that I've heard is valid at Celebration Roundup is the Cast Member one. Cast Members and Employees of The Walt Disney Company will receive their traditional 20% Discount upon presentation of a valid Walt Disney Company ID Card.

As to Disney Vacation Club members, I haven't heard of them receiving a discount, but it wouldn't surprise me. If there is one, it would be the traditional 10% Discount that is extended to DVC Members at other Disneyland Resort restaurants.

Now that I think of it, I'm almost certain I overheard them asking someone if they were AAA members :confused3. Not sure if there are discounts there or not. Maybe they meant did htey have AAA tickets or something. I wasn't really paying attention.

Wow, I haven't been on the boards in a while, so my report might sound like a repeat from someone elses. But I went to Celebration Round-up on their opening day last week, I was so STUFFED!!!
There were a lot of empty seats since it was its opening, but Ms. Chris & Tex Tumbleweed & the piano playing guy (I'm so sorry I forgot your name) were still full of energy which helped brighten a gloomy afternoon.
But on w/ the food. I LOVED THE BBQ BEANS!!! They're my absolute fave! I also really liked the chicken and when you add extra BBQ sauce on it, :cloud9:. The desserts were so cute and clever. The waitress gave us 4 different kinds of cupcakes in cones and we were full enough from all of the BBQ. Since there were only 3 of us, including me, we all shared the desserts so we could try them all. And once our bellybuttons turned from an innie to an outie, I still took a cone to much on on the way out.
Even though you're paying at a character meal price, I still had a lot of fun even though the only character that came to our table was Jessie. I was kinda sad that Woody didn't even come over, but oh well. I LOVED our waitress. She was a character herself! She was really funny and so animated. I just wish I remembered her name. But there was a table next to us that had a daughter that really loved Jessie and the entertainers would go to their table when they weren't on stage and interact w/ them, so I enjoyed watching them and when they would have Jessie come over too. It was really cute when Tex teached her to yodel. I had a really good time and I can't wait to go back!

We just went to the BBQ this weekend, and while the food was okay, the service was the worst I've ever experienced in my life. It took 15 minutes after being seated for the waitress to come and take our drink order. Fine, we overlooked that. Some time after that, someone else brings out our food, and I mention to him that we didn't have any plates. He leaves our table, goes in the back, and then comes out later and assists another table. Still no plates. I had to walk over and ask another waitress, since ours had disappeared at this point, for plates. We also had to ask for coleslaw, which came out 10 minutes later.

Our waitress finally reappears, refills my drink since she already had the pitcher in her hand from helping another table, and ignores everyone elses empty glasses. We don't see her again for the remainder of our time there. We wait another 15 minutes after we're finished, and no one has cleared our table or brought our dessert. We finally had to complain to the manager to get any service, and she handled the situation very well. We wasted almost 2 hours of our day there.

The tables around us had similar complaints about lack of service. It doesn't make sense. It's not like they take orders there. Everyone is gettting the same food, all they have to do is take drink orders, and bring out dessert at the end. Needless to say, we will not be returning. We like the ribs better at Taste Pilots anyway and the money spent is not worth what you receive in return.

My dh, two granddaughters and myself were on there on Wed 4/29 and I was not pleased. When I made the reservation i was told that the girls would get a goodie bag. Well they changed their policy and you have to buy them. The entertainment was cute but the food was not that good. It was not kid friendly food. The BBQ sauce was to spicey for children, children don't care for coleslaw and the cowboy cupcakes were to grown up for kids. I was not happy with the experience at all. We probably won't do it again.

We went April 26th and had the BEST time!!!! My kids LOVED the BBQ, DD9 did pull the skin off and just ate the chicken meat but she isn't a big BBQ sauce fan so that's really why she did that. lol She also doesn't like chicken skin, she thinks it's gross. We had the BEST server, she was amazing, the drink refills kept coming, the food refills kept coming, she kept checking on us to make sure we were ok. She was great, Woody was great, he came to our table repeatedly to mess with DBF and the kids, the manager came by a few times and we did some pin trading with her, she was so nice! My DD12 loved the BBQ sauce, and she hates anything spicy, even plain old black pepper! The BBQ beans were the BEST I've ever had, I'm not a big fan of beans but these were so good, the coleslaw was delicious, I ate the whole bowl practically by myself! lol I definitely think it was family friendly, there was something for everyone to eat. The cupcakes were so good, DD9 doesn't "do" cake so for her we just let her eat the frosting and the fruit but DD12 ate a whole cupcake by herself, DBF and I shared the other 2 but we were so full we couldn't finish them. Would we go again? YES!!!! And with our Premium AP we were given a 15% discount, which covered the tip. :)
