20 Day Countdown and Mother’s Day!


Our “20 Days til Disney” day fell on this past Friday, May 11th. However, we had a bit of a switch-up with the plan. Here are D & I celebrating putting the “20” on the countdown calendar before work/school:

My dad is currently in the hospital and will have bypass surgery this week. This has been sort of a “surprise” and has definitely shifted everyone’s plans/activities for the coming weeks. However, we are so lucky he went in in time and we are confident that he’ll come through the surgery just fine and be up and about in no time! Soooo. . .instead of having our scheduled 20 Days til Disney countdown dinner, we went to the hospital to visit Dad!

The new plan then became for us to go to Mom & Dad’s cabin on Saturday and make sure everything is ok. Mom reminded me before we went that Dolly’s Splash Country was having its Passholder Preview Day on Saturday. Somehow, we got word that it was “dry”. In other words, we heard that none of the slides or water areas were open. . .you just could walk through it. Imagine our surprise (and D’s delight) when we got there and that was not the case! There was no keeping him out, so he & Bri went into the kids’ water area in their regular shorts! It was COLLLLLD, but D had a blast!

We can’t wait to go back again!

On Saturday night, we had our “UNDER 20 Days” dinner. This was “Octonauts” night. These guys were the centerpiece:

D & Bri named them Greenie, Golic, and Stink.  Yep, we’re creating another ESPN addict.

After dinner, we played in the hottub! It was great fun and a great way to celebrate!

On Sunday, we got up, celebrated Mother’s Day

And went back to the hospital to see Dad. It was a busy weekend, but a fun one!

This week is graduation and all of the senior nights at work! Looking forward to a fun week and the relief of knowing that Dad came through the surgery well!

They are doing another blood draw at 6 am today (Tuesday). If it's at the level they want, the surgery will be today. If not, it'll be on Thursday. We are all hoping that it will be today, just so we can get him on the road to recovery!

Good morning!! Dad's platelet count did not cooperate the other day, so his surgery is actually taking place this morning. He's the first surgery of the day, and we're all a little anxious. I will post an update as soon as I know anything!

For now, though. . .

DAY 8 plans:

This is our last full park day! I know I’ll be thinking, “How did this get here so quickly??”

We are headed to MAGIC KINGDOM again today!

Today’s agenda is just to do the fun things again that we’ve loved, and then to get all of the things done that we missed on our first MK day and on the evening there the night before!

I’m thinking it will definitely include a visit to these guys:

D and I LOVE this movie!!

After winding down our day, it’ll be once again time for a final MK pic:

All too soon, it’ll be time to head back to TN. . .but not without one last trip to Downtown Disney!!
