Celebrating my Un-Birthday Disney Style-April 2010-New 5/3 - The TR has started!

For me...the experience of shopping on Black Friday is more important than the actual shopping! Now you have a great story to tell! It stinks that it was raining, though...good for you for sticking it out!

No Zhu-Zhu's here....my boys just want iPod's and $50 video games. UGH! The bigger the boy, the bigger the price tag.

Glad to hear about your TGM sucess in planning your days. I know it's so cool when your plans just seem to fall into place. Here's hoping Jeff's plans fit right in! :thumbsup2

I give you credit! :cheer2: The Toys-R-Us by us was doing the same thing and the line was INSANE! I was there getting presents for the children I nanny for and I'm glad I chose a checkout lane farthest from the line b/c when they began handing them out, people went NUTS. They had tell people that if they had one they HAD to go straight to checkout (I'm assuming for safety). :confused3

:welcome:

Thanks for reading! I was expecting people to be crazy but it was all very civilized... probably because 100 people didn't show up. :confused3

I have heard about Zhu Zhus from other parents with younger kids -- they do seem to be the hot new item this year! Congrats on scouring one for Zach! He is going to be thrilled on Christmas morning!!! :goodvibes

Hopefully I can find some accessories to go with it so he isn't wondering where "the rest" of the gift is. :rolleyes1

You are a good mom to go out and brave the Zhu-Zhu crowds...::yes::

...I made the very foolish mistake of asking David what they were (zhu-zhu and his eyes lit up with a little gleam-he LIKES them (I don't know what I would have done if he LOVED them...:confused3) but apparently he likes this bakugan 7 in 1 thing more that we hadn't had on the list......that was the ONE thing he really needed Santa to bring...

I've since seen the zhu-zhu-they are cute...I didn't know they have accessories...:confused3

(Luckily I was able to find it...I don't really understand bakugan but he really likes it...)

I think TGM's advice is always good...I just wish he was a bit quicker sometimes...and don't you always feel you aren't sure what is ok to reveal when talking to other people...like is this a trade TGM secret or not?...

I don't get the whole bakugan thing either. :confused3 Zach has a few of them because they are fun to throw around but he doesn't play the game - probably doesn't even realize there is a game.

I'm glad you found David's must-have item of the year! :thumbsup2

We have the $50 video games too! The new Mario, Wii Sports Resort - with accessories - and they each get a new DS game too. Zach is in that in between phase where he still likes the younger kid stuff but loves the big kid games too. I guess he just wants it all! :rotfl:

I just saw a news report on the Zhu Zhu as I was reading your update.....wow.

That's funny! Aren't they so silly! I'm sure the news report you saw wasn't a good one! :headache: I was bummed to hear that the light brown zhu zhu (the one I got) might have some problems. I'm waiting to hear how it all plays out before I worry too much. I can always hold it aside if it turns out to be dangerous. :sad2:

What a great mom! I heard lots of people bemoaning the Zhu Zhu shortage at a party friday night. It has not seemed to cross either boys radar, luckily (knock on wood) neither of them have ever wanted the "it" toy so it's worked out fine.

Great news on TGM!

That Hamster thing just floors me!!! I don't get how a little motorized fuzzy thing could be so popular!!! It is like Tickle me Elmo!!! I have seen the comercials, they have little hamster runs, beds, etc. CRAZY! But it is all worth it in the end if the kids are happy! I also know about those bakugans... neither of mine have a grave interest, more about seeing them and saying they'd like one, then forgetting about it!!! SO I am glad for that!

Crazy toy fads!!!

I love TGM too! So glad he is agreeing with Tour Guide Amy ;)

Hi Amy...

Wow I bow to you and buying a Zhu Zhu...:worship: you rock MOM! and yes :rolleyes1 I went to Target on Black Friday at 5:15 in the morning to buy $5 and $10 games for the kids....

the best thing I bought though has to be Toy Story Mania for the Wii....now I can't wait till Christmas :santa:

Great :thumbsup2 green go's on your park days w/ TGM! I really hope you stick w/ CRT and you don't need to change to much w/ Jeff and family...

some mischievous elf ideas....can he sit in the fridge? try to hitch a ride in the van? be taking a "bath" ?

and I can't believe your at 4 months practically...WOW!

J~

warning...baukegan's have been known to spontaneously open and attach themselves to the inside of my dryer.

They were also the hot commodity on the third grade black market...picture Evan in a trench coat dealing baukegan. Quite the salesman, there was a whole cartel!

Thankfully the boys are over those little balls of magnetic annoyance...pocket sized is not a good thing in my house.

lol!

Continue to knock wood - I am just happy that both boys don't want one! Fortunately the zhu zhus have been cleared by the consumer safety commission after the safety rumor that was going around this weekend! :woohoo:

Zach desperately wants a cat, but Alex has been scared to death (I mean petrified) since he was about 4, of both cats & dogs. We actually had two cats that he had grown up with, then one day he would scream bloody murder every time they came around. That on top of dealing with his disability and inability to express himself turned into us finding new homes for our cats. So I figured a robotic hamster might scratch Zach's itch for a little while. Maybe... :confused3

A good friend of mine went out at 3:15 on Black Friday - I'm sure she'll be dragging me along sooner or later. Sounds like you found good deals though.

The elf was very mischevious last night - I'll post pictures later. ;)

:lmao: I love it - the baukegan cartel!

Pocket sized items are bad here too! I never used to have to check their pockets, but lately I've been finding all sorts of good things! :sad2:

Oh yeah, inevitable legos rolling around with the jeans.... always happens! So it sounds like this little hamster will meet a happy compromise for your kids! And the black friday is fun! Worth it for some things, I love going! But I am weird like that.... :lmao:

E- you are too funny...you paint a vivid picture....:rotfl2::thumbsup2

I find lots of little pieces of paper, gum wrappers & little plastic figures - frogs, playmobil, etc!

I agree - she cracked me up with that one! :rotfl:

Well it's turned out to be quite a snowy day here today. The kids are home from school for the first (of what will probably be many) snow day of the year. It was only supposed to snow for a couple hours this morning before turning to a mix of snow & rain, then all rain. It's 12:30 and still snowing away! I think we have almost 6 inches of heavy, wet snow.

I've gotten quite a bit accomplished around the house, but after lunch we'll be heading outside to try to make a snowman. :thumbsup2 I'll post pictures of it later if we are successful. For now, I'll post some pictures from our first snow over the weekend:

Here are the boys visiting Santa at our town's holiday celebration on Sunday evening:

Zach was being very shy all of a sudden:

These was a wagon ride there - these are the horses pulling the wagon:

Zach's eyes were closed, but otherwise I love this shot:

That's Tim behind them holding the bottle. It's not a beer, it's a bottle of old fashion soda. ;)

And now, as I finish this up at 12:50, the snow has turned to either ice or rain. I'd better get the kids outside before the snow washes away! :rolleyes1

Very cute snow pictures Amy!

I can't believe all the snow everybody is getting. And it has missed us so far. Which is usually not the case here in western PA! I think we are supposed to get some tonight though. Just a lot of rain here for now.

YAY! Wasn't it fun!! But yes, I suspect you will be getting quite a few snowy days.... it was heavy snow, I agree, that is the best kind for making snowmen!!!! :thumbsup2 Have a great day!

They give me much fodder to be sure

Evan wasn't laughing when I made him return all monies earned through his sales activity but let the other kids (his victims) keep the baukugan's! It was mortifying at the time but awfully funny now.

And of course he still doesn't know how I found out. :rotfl2:

I refuse to check pockets on principle and by in large, it serves me well. I know them, if they thought I'd check they'd NEVER take anything out. These days it's mostly candy wrappers.

Where the candy is COMING from....one can only wonder. I am quite sure nefarious activities have happened to procure such delights as I know the state of my candy jar, and it's pathetic!

Picking my battles. As long as the magnetix, and playmobil stay out, I'm ok. Everything else is big enough it shouldn't get sucked into the filer and kill my machine (a dum dum stick though...that will take it out!)

Playmobil is the barbie shoe nightmare..for boys. Teeny tiny handcuffs, guns, flashlights (Eric is big on the Police stuff lol). Those are the current bane of my existence. Which I am feeding with the Police Advent Calendar but I couldn't resist! Of course they've taken the Santa from the farm one a couple of years ago and put him in the new jail that came with the calendar. What Santa did do deserve that...I'm not quite sure.

CUTE snow pics! No snow here yet but man is it cold! I told the boys, no snow allowed until the 1st day of break, I've got too much going on between now and then. We will see if I get my way....

we've gotten are first set of snow here too and each morning Michael asks if it's a snow day...not yet ;) he's bummed, but not me....

Can't believe you've already had a first snow day and before Christmas....today was friged cold -15 degree windchill.... I know it will get worse...just not ready yet.

better scoot back to Egypt and clean up

J~

At first, I thought Santa had made a trip to your house.

I wish we'd get snow at least once a season...:confused3 However, after our first big rain of the season a few weeks ago. The Highway Patrol reported 300 accidents on the freeways:scared1: Can you imagine if it snowed?

Such fun in the snow!!! :goodvibes

Have fun making a snowman this afternoon!

Thanks Jackie! We had fun!

Very cute snow pictures Amy!

We got quite a bit before it turned to rain - unfortunately we didn't get outside until it had changed over to rain.

YAY! Wasn't it fun!! But yes, I suspect you will be getting quite a few snowy days.... it was heavy snow, I agree, that is the best kind for making snowmen!!!! :thumbsup2 Have a great day!

For the most part we enjoyed playing outside in the rain! :headache: The snow was super heavy. By the time I got out there, Zach had rolled a giant snowball for the base of the snowman - we had to keep it where it was because we couldn't move it anywhere else! I had a hard time lifting up the second snowball! I have pictures to post shortly - they are in the other computer - I just turned it on to load the pictures into photobucket.
