This thread is inspired by one I subscribed to where it turned out others are also celebrating their anniversaries in the world. Here's what I want to know:

Who has celebrated their anniversaries in Disney?
We already have plans made for ours; TL during the day, SOA in the evening, but what did you do?
We would like to buy each other something special to mark the day, any ideas? We got the Mickey and Minnie stuffed bride and groom when we were there for our 8th, watches on our 6th.
Has anyone ever had a little surprise planned or something delivered to their room?

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Oh my goodness..we are celebrating our 10th anniversary at Disney too!!

It's a family trip, so DH and I will have the kiddos with us, but I wouldn't have it any other way ;)

We are going to get the bride and groom ears to wear at our Rehitching ceremony at Garden Grill. Other than that, we don't have any other plans except to just have a magical memory of our tenth anniversary at Disney :lovestruc

Congrats on your anniversary and have a wonderful trip!

We are celebrating our 12th at WDW in a few months. We are planning to do the Rehitching ceremony at the Garden Grill and I would love to do the bride and groom hats, but my husband won't go along with it. He has agreed to wear a T-shirt that I have yet to make. I think I'm going to put our wedding photo on it and "12 Magical Years" or something. I am thinking of giving my DH a mickey watch with something engraved on it.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary last Nov. The dates were the same as my *girls* weekend last year so friends of mine already had a two bedrooms at OKW booked for us. I wasn't happy about the dates (we vote) but it ended up working out great!
They gave us the master, when we arrived they had a bucket of champagne on the jacuzzi with two engraved champagne glasses and a basket of really nice toiletries!
My kids had called my friends and sent money to one of them for a bottle of wine at Jiko where we were to have dinner. Upon arrival to dinner they handed us a really nice letter they typed out from my kids with Disney dollars to pay for wine, more Disney dollars from some of our friends and a really nice card signed by the staff! The chef came over & sent appetizers out and dessert at the end of the meal!
We spent the day time at the food & wine festival.
It was a great weekend even if I had to split my time with my husband & girlfriends ;)
OKW is a very romantic resort!

DW and I went to WDW for our honeymoon, celebrated our anniversary last year and are going back again this year. We've done special things such as dinner at CG with the fireworks and the rehitching ceremony, but looking back on it that wasn't anymore romantic than any other part of the trip. I think there are a lot of simple things you can do that are romantic that don't require spending large amounts of money. With that in mind here are a few tips:

1) Start thinking of the whole trip as your anniversary, not just as one day.

2) Make sure all of our PS's have anniversary noted on them.

3) Visit a few resorts in the evening and take walks. Most of the resorts are extremely romantic in the evening and are usually very quiet. It is especially nice to enjoy the Florida weather alone together.

4) Ride one of the many smaller free boats that WDW offers. You can ride from WL to MK or from POR to DTD or from YC to MGM. As long as it isn't park closing time the boats usually aren't too crowded.

5) Find out what the traditional anniversary gift is for that year and buy that for each other. Don't concentrate on getting it by the anniversary date so that you can spend the entire trip looking for just the right thing.

6) Go as far out of your way as possible to make sure your DW/DH has the most fantastic trip they can have. Your effort will be rewarded back 150% by the smile on their face and the connection you feel with them. For example: if they like the parades you could wait over an hour for a good parade spot even though you don't care about it or you could ride their favorite ride multiple times even though once is more than enough for you.

7) A full day at the parks leaves you very tired in the evening. Pace yourself during the day so that you still have some energy at night!

We'll be celebrating our 6th anniversary this weekend at Disney. I loved the idea of finding something either traditional or modern to give each other this weekend. The only thing is traditional is iron and modern is wood!!

We're going to Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner the night before our anniversary and Garden Grill the day of our actual anniversary (Sunday) my bil and sil are coming down on Saturday so we can all go to PI that night to celebrate.

Congratulations on your anniversary! It's such fun to celebrate at WDW! We had our honeymoon at the GF. Then on our 5th, we went back again. I had ordered a pair of waterford champagne flutes from the Wedding Pavilion, along with a cake, and had this delivered to the castle where we were having dinner. You should have seen my husband's face when they came to our table... priceless! We wore the wedding hats which we had worn on our honeymoon. It was wonderful.

As with anything, the joy comes from within you. Enjoy being together with the one you said "I do." to. Have fun!

I have done a few anniversaries at Disney. One of them we had dinner at CRT informing them of the anniversary, they had the special Mickie confetti on the table and at the end of dinner they brought lighted cup cakes and gave us CRT Champagne Flutes in a nice box.
For our 35th last year we had anniversary lunch at LTR did the confetti and cupcakes. and that night we had dinner at Boatwrights and then the Horse and Carriage ride which was beautiful, full moon and all.

gingermommy94,

We will have our kids as well, I couldn't imagine them not coming. When we were on our honeymoon floating around Castaway Creek at TL we made a pact that we would come back 10 years later and show our kids (which we did not yet have obviously) the magic of Disney. We have managed to sneak in 2 trips with our 2 children already, so it won't all be knew to them, but now they are 7 & 9 a perfect age. We have talked the kids into the Neverland Club so we will have some time on our own. Their ages also make for an easy time of it, no diapers, they dress themselves, great swimmers, etc.

Others just don't get it when I say we are celebrating our anniversary in Disney and with the kids, but we do and that's what matters. It's nice to come on these boards and know there are others who feel the same way we do.

Congratulations to you and enjoy your 10 years of Magic Family Trip!

We have celebrated two anniversaries in WDW. On one, I surprised my DH with two nights at the Hard Rock Hotel, and passes to Universal (not to sound traitorous, but we do like the thrill rides there). We have also celebrated at Mickey's Backyard Barbeque. We look at the whole trip as an anniversary thing, and have done backstage tours as special events, too.

JKanownik,

You seem to be on these boards as much as me! I study for a bit, and the DIS boards are my break time, to refresh; studying about the Arctic makes me cold, this warms me up!LOL!

Did you really put "Anniversary" on all your PS? I've booked the rehitching for a couple days before, thought I would sneak (DH and kids don't know about it) it in. I've heard that SOA asks those with anniversaries to stand up, but that's really all I had planned. I like your idea of celebrating our anniversary for the whole 2 weeks. Your others ideas inspire me too, thanks!

I'm celebrating my tenth this July and I'm also bringing the kids. We thought about going other places, but decided we would go to the place we love with our two little beauties. I get the same reaction from people, but I don't care. You have to celebrate in the way that feels right. By the way, we're leaving the kids with relatives who will be there and going to CG during Wishes. Also, what is SOA? I couldn't figure it out. Happy Anniversary everyone!

DisKim,

Glad to have you onboard this thread in regards to the anniversary (Happy Early, BTW) and the family thing.

SOA is Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at the Poly. I am going to a luau for my anniversary, and Cinderella's Castle for Mother's Day!

Wonder what the 10th anniversary gifts/symbols are, I will look it up and let you know.

I've got an advantage over you when it comes to time on the boards because DW and I use the same account.

I do put anniversary on any PS during a trip when we are celebrating an anniversary. Since it is an anniversary trip, every meal is an anniversary meal.

Hi All,
Great thread. My DH and I will be celebrating our 20th at WDW for a week this August. So far I've got the Luau booked for the actual anniversary night. I'm also planning on at least one backstage tour. We are going alone this trip as a second honeymoon. Don't worry though our DS got to go for a week already in February and he's going back with us for a week in December.

I loved the tips above. We plan on taking it slower and relaxing on this trip since it's just the 2 of us. We are staying at the Boardwalk so I'm hoping to hit some of the night spots there like Jelly Rolls this time around.

::yes:: We will be celebrating our 15th in December at WDW and on the Wonder with our 2 DS (10+13). Looking forward to it. The boys have NEVER been! :sunny:

My dh & I are heading out next Friday for 4 nights at AKL without the kids (they will be joining us in November for a 9 night Family Trip!). This trip we are doing all the things we just can't do with the kids, eat at fancy restaurants (sitting for two hours), ride the same rides at the same time  (no swapping), sleep in *no EMH  , stay out past 1am  (well, maybe!)... you get the idea!

We are very excited! We have our special dinner at Jiko on Saturday night where we will exchange gifts.

I am so looking forward to relaxing with him in the hot tub late at night, or sitting by the fireplace in the Lobby sipping drinks, etc...

Oh, BTW it is our 15th wedding anniversary! :bounce:

We celebrated our tenth anniversary at WDW last July. We booked a lagoon view room at the GF with a view of the castle. Since we had mentioned it was our 10th, there was champagne waiting in our room. Every night, we watched the fireworks over MK from our balcony, followed by the electric water pagent. On the night of our anniversary, we had dinner at V&A. The next day was July 4, so we had dinner at Citrico's and then went on a MK fireworks cruise. It was costly, but unforgettable.

We, too, will be celebrating our 10th anniversary at WDW and will have our kids along!!:D We'll be there 7 nights -- five at ASMo, and the last two at AKL for an anniversary treat. We have two kid-free nights planned -- one night we'll get a sitter to stay with the kids in the room and will either resort hop or go to PI, and another night while we're at AKL we'll take the kids to Simba's Cubhouse and have a nice dinner at either Boma or Jiko. We have a family anniversary lunch planned for CRT on one of the days we'll be at MK. No "fancy stuff," but I think we'll have a great time! Based on what I've heard lots of places, I'll just make sure I mention our anniversary for all of our PS's and when we check into our resorts, and see if a little pixie dust gets sprinkled our way. If not, it will still be a great week in my favorite place with my favorite people!
