Celebrating A 5th Birthday with Mickey & Rain,May 2009! Completed..

:cool1: I'm going to get masks too, since we won't be the only paranoid ones on the plane . So we will be in good company. I figure well wait and see what happens in the next week. I always pack plenty of wipes and Purell for our trips.

Too funny! We can all be paranoid together. :lmao:

Thomas looks like he is really enjoy T-ball. Kaylee didn't look too enthused but she looks cute like always.

Good luck to Kaylee on her dance tryouts!! And good luck to you making decisions about flights or driving! Tough call...:confused3 is it $260 each or just $260 total you'd lose??

Thanks Jennifer :goodvibes. We would lose $260 plus the two free flight we earned with our miles. We would get $100 credit from SW but need to use by September, so we won't be able to use that either. Still not 100% on the flying though.

So when does Kaylee find out if she made dance ensemble? That's very exciting!! I've not started packing yet either. I still need to make a list of things I still need to buy for the trip (ponchos, sunscreen, etc.)--we've just been too busy!! 14 days!! Whoo hoo!!:cool1::banana:

Well find out on Tuesday. She said it was really hard  which is not surprising since most of the girls are 13 an older. The only other young girl is 10. I understand you on the busy ;). I still have to shop for the trip too this week. Looks like I will be packing next Saturday.

Hurry up and get packing!! :cool1:

Kathy

I knowI really need to get to work on that very soon :goodvibes.

Good luck to Kaylee! Cute pics of Thomas. Hope you come to a decision you can live with regarding the flying or driving. I need to start packing too.

Thanks Mary :). Hopefully I can figure out something soon. Decisions are never easy for me. Seems to be an outgoing issue for me in life . We all need to start packing!

Too funny! We can all be paranoid together. :lmao:

Thomas looks like he is really enjoy T-ball. Kaylee didn't look too enthused but she looks cute like always.

 Just what we need something else to be paranoid about. The flight is not enough. Thanks Thomas loves T Ball. Kaylee doesn't always like to smile for pic lately :rolleyes1. But poor Thomas has been sitting at the dance studio since he was born, so it's her turn to cheer her brother on. Good luck shopping today.

Hey Nichole! Wow, you are getting so close now! I hope you make a decision soon about driving vs. flying and are happy with your choice! I am terrible about making decisions like that too.

Love the pictures of the kids. Thomas looks so cute in his T-ball gear! And Kaylee is a cutie as always. I hope she and Sam get to meet in a few weeks!

Have a great Sunday!

Hi Michelle,
I'm the worst decision maker ever , I don't know how I'm able to plan these trips. Thanks. Kaylee would love to meet Samantha.

Hey Nichole! Love the pics of the t-ball game! Thomas looks adorable taking a swing, and Kaylee is rocking the braids! Too cute!

I understand your concern with the flying....believe me, if I could get out of flying for our trip, I would. But Shawn would kill me! :rotfl: Just wipe everything down when you get on the plane (the trays, the arm rests, etc, etc) - I think you will be fine! :goodvibes

Can't wait to see some of the stuff you picked up! (I haven't done any shopping....oops)!

Sara

Nichole it's almost time! Good luck getting all your packing done!

Sara

Hi Sara,
Thanks :goodvibes a bunch. I picked up a few new things not too much since so many of Tshirts I bought in October still fit us. I'm still stressing out over the airplane. I tried to buy masks yesterday in case but everywhere was sold out :headache:.

Update:
Kaylee made the Ensemble, just found out when i went to buy her recital tickets today :woohoo:. the down side is the cost factor involved. The Ensemble does Dance workshops over the summer which are so expensive. Then added costumes besides the ones for her regular classes. Also we have to buy & sell 15 tickets to each of the Ensemble shows . The teacher told me "it's only $180 for each show" :scared: She will be dance every single day but Friday & Sunday. the good part is the instructor said she did great and even held her own dancing with Sophomore's in High school :dance3:.

On to the topic that has me taking some deep breaths right now, Swine Flu. There is now a confirmed case here in Knoxville and they closed one of the middle schools. It's no wear near us as we live just outside of Knox County. But one of the teachers from that school also came in to buy dance tickets today :scared1:. She said the student is not in her class  but her daughters dance at the same dance school with Kaylee luckily not in any of her classes but still. I of course stayed very far away from her and didn't breathe much, ready to take a bath in Purrell. Then one of Kaylee's classmate/ friends comes in with her mom to buy her tickets. She had to pick her DD up from school since she had a fever & Sore Throat :scared:, she looked awful too! She was taking her to the DR. after to see if she had strep, which the school nurse didn't think so, but still :scared1:. I wanted to get Kaylee from school right then.

Congrats to Kaylee on the dance ensamble but :scared1: on the price!

I hope no one gets sick!!

YAY!! That's sooo exciting about Kaylee making dance ensemble!! She must be REALLY good!!

12 days! And we're almost to single digits!! :woohoo:

Congratulations to Kaylee! :cheer2:

I bought my masks at Home Depot in the building supply/drywall section. I have them ready to go. I'm trying not to panic and trying to remember that we are around sick people all the time, everyday and that good hygiene is really the key. That probably doesn't ease your mind but it is true. I just wonder how many people have had this flu before but weren't tested because the symptoms are very similar to the common flu.

Hopefully we don't have anything to worry about.

Ah well done to Kaylee, thats great news. You are one busy Mom :thumbsup2. When I was down at my Mum's last week there was a young girl with a confirmed case of Swine Flu in Paignton which is 13 miles down he road (where Sophie goes to Latin dancing). That was our 5th confirmed case but its scary being so close to home :scared:

Congratulations, Kaylee! Way to go! :cheer2:

* I'm honestly not getting worked up about the Swine Flu at all. Every single year there are many deaths related to influenza... you just never hear about them. They are usually infants, elderly, displaced or immunocompromised individuals.

I think the media is hyping this virus up way too much.

Wash your hands, dispose of your tissues, spray surfaces with Lysol. If you or a family member does get sick, it will be no different than any other run-of-the-mill flu. If you feel you're child is sicker than should be expected, go to the doctor. Otherwise, its just rest, fluids, and tylenol for the fever.

And of course, stay home from school/work until you're better.

Plain old common sense.

If you feel more comfortable wearing disposable masks on the plane, then do it! You won't be the only ones. You can get them in any large drug store or at a home improvement store.

Good luck and stay well,

Kathy

Congrats to Kaylee on the dance ensamble but :scared1: on the price!

I hope no one gets sick!!

Thanks :goodvibes yes it's quite costly on top of her regular lessons. I hope so too :scared:.

Thanks Becky :goodvibes. The teacher said she did great but Kaylee told me the Ballet was really hard. We will be in the single digits soon :).
Congratulations to Kaylee! :cheer2:

I'm sending DH to Home Depot tonight. Thanks for the congrats for Kaylee and the . I'm so worried about flying and then just being in a super germy place like Disney with this crap going around. I really don't want any of us to get sick especially with something serious. My neighbor thinks I'm crazy not to cancel the whole thing. Even her DH who flies twice a week for work is staying put right now.

I need some of your opinions :goodvibes. Found this link on one of the threads on theme park board about Swine Flu. Seems like quite a few were sick at Saratoga Springs just a week ago :scared1:. I know SSR is huge but it seems they didn't see the need to disinfect the rooms. I want to take Thomas to Disney for his Birthday but I don't want to chance anyone getting deathly ill. We have so much to do when we get back. So would you stay at SSR or would inquire about switching??

Hey Nichole,

Just found this...

http://www.foxcarolina.com/health/19351787/detail.html

That should make you feel better that the high school in question is reopening & tested negative for the swine flu. It sould like (from the article you posted) that WDW is taking precautions.

Good luck with your decision. I imagine you will be just fine. As KathyRN posted, this flu is not much different than the regular flu - it's jut in the news right now. People travel while sick all the time, but we just dont know it. KWIM?

Cathy

Hey Nichole! CONGRATS to Kaylee!:cool1:

If I were you, as long as you were all healthy, I would go especially if there are no cases in your schools! Some advice I have seen that makes sense...

put some neosporin in your nostrils before flying, it keeps your nasal passages moist making you less suseptible to germs.

wipe down completely your plane seats, trays, windows and arm rests with Clorox wipes!

DO NOT turn the air on above your seats! Recycled forced air:sick:

DO NOT use the bathroom unless ABSOLUTELY necessary!

Keep hand sanitizer ,at least 60% alcohol with you to have the kids use before they eats snacks.

I always do all of these when I fly, call me paranoid but it works for me!!

One of the biggest things at Disney is, if you go to buffets, make sure you clean your hands before you eat (do you know how many people touch those utensils!) I am ridiculous, I don't even let the kids touch the utensils, Bryan and I do it for them!

I am sure you will be fine, try to relax (hard I know) and have a GREAT time!!:goodvibes

Sorry I rambled!!:rolleyes1

Nichole, iif I am reading right they DO sanitize the room and the Doc says Disney standards are "2nd to none" I think it is totally up to you. Do what you are comfortable with.

"If they identify a guest who's stayed in a room, they have an antiseptic treatment of that room: changing the bedding and a major scrub down of that room as a routine," said Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty.

Disney officials said they already have rigorous sanitation standards across the resort.

So far, the Orange County Health Department has not recommended for them take any additional steps.

"I've toured the back lots in Disney. They're better than anyone I've ever seen. The practices they have to protect staff members, guests and staff are second to none," said Dr. Kevin Sherin from the health department.
