Day 2 of our 25th Anniversary trip

Cast:
Myself, (Kate), 48 years young, mother of 4 kids (ages 10 to 20) with a full-time outside job as well. The Disney nut/planner and recent DIS board addict! Also the one who has been trying to convince DH to move to Florida for the last 25 years. LOL
DH (Harry) 49, father to the 4 mentioned Dear children. Likes Disney, but leaves the planning to moi!

Day 2 of our trip, first day in the parks. We eat a quick breakfast in our room, then head to the bus stop (actually, I carried my bowl of cereal and yogurt to the bus stop with me!). We arrive at Epcot a bit before 8 and decide to go directly to Mission Space, which DH has been waiting to ride for almost 2 years. Our last trip was June, 2003, and soft openings began the day after we went home!

As we walk in the entry gates, I get choked up and feel that “missing the kids“ emotion. “Remember when we were here on Mother's Day when Molly (20 yr old DD) was only a year old??“ DH gives me that look - don't start crying!! I pull myself together and get ready for the quick walk to MS.

I'm still hesitant, as I'm not a rough rider! Spinning and speed don't necessarily bother me, however, so I figure I'll be OK. We debate whether to grab FP's for TT, but go right to MS. I get really nervous with all the warnings about motion sickness, etc. but what really gets me is the barf bags by each seat! After about a 5 minute wait, the ride gets underway, I love it! DH loves it as well, and our day begins on a high note. Test track is next, and it is one of my favorites. Again, we wait less than 10 minutes, and the fun begins. As we approach the de-loading area, the entire ride stops, and then comes the announcement that there are technical problems, please be patient and stay seated. After sitting about 10 minutes, when we finally get to the place to get out, we are allowed to remain seated and ride again, if we choose, for our inconvenience! This is our lucky day, we get to ride again. Then we head back to MS, DH wants to try it again. In less than an hour we've ridden MS and TT twice each!

I also want to try Soarin', but when we get there, it is not operating due to 'technical problems' we can get FP's and try later, so head to other attractions, including Spaceship Earth, which is one that we never miss. Finally, when it is a little after 11:00, we go back, and Soarin' is up and running. We walk right on, and it is great!

Now that World Showcase is open, we begin our way through some of the countries. I buy a pair of pants planning on another night of chilly weather. The jeans I wore on the plane somehow ended up with a slit on the backside, I must have caught them on something, so the only long pants I brought have a huge hole in the butt! LOL Forgot to mention that detail yesterday, but it was cold wearing shorts at 53 degrees!

By 1:30 we work our way to the boat in the International Gateway area, and head to MGM since we have a late lunch PS for 3:00. The boat ride is very relaxing and pleasant, we get glimpses of the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club and Swan and Dolphin before arriving at the Studios. DH makes a beeline for ToT, which I am NOT riding, despite his attempts to convince me. I hate that drop sensation, and only do mild roller coasters. DH tells me to get FP's for Rockin' Roller Coaster in the meantime, and I comply, but I still don't what possessed me to do that!

I hadn't thought ahead of time of riding this, but DH told me it wasn't that bad, and not much worse than Thunder Mountain (liar!) Again, a very short wait, and as soon as the ride starts, I know I'm in trouble. I HATE roller coasters in the dark, when I can't see what's coming. I must be crazy to be on this ride. I scream my lungs out to survive it. When it stops, I have a pounding headache and look at this guy beside me who absolutely loved the ride. Wasn't that fun? he says. I look at him - he really is Goofy!!

I'm not feeling so well, and make him find me some Tylenol. We sit in a shady area and drink some water, then make our way to Sci-Fi Dine-in for lunch as we're pretty hungry by now. I made this PS for DH, he's a sci-fi fanatic, and it really is a fun dining experience. Our server, Mike, seems to have a fun time joking with us, and teasing us about being in the back seat of a car at the drive in. DH gets a kick out of the old film clips, and actually knows a lot about most of the movies. The food and drinks are good, and after about an hour or so we're on our way again.
We spend the next few hours touring MGM, and when it gets to be 7:30 we go over to find a seat for Fantasmic.

What a show! DH has seen it before, but I haven't, and it is spectacular. Definitely worth the wait. By the time it's over, we're tired and ready to head back to the resort. We take our time, stopping in a few shops along the way, and when we get to the bus stop, it isn't really all that crowded.

We get off at bus stop 1 and check out Pepper Market, as DH is hungry, so we get a large taco salad, and the friendly gentleman who helps us, gives us lots of fixins. He says it is the end of the night, and he's cleaning up anyway. I buy a container of fresh pineapple, and plan to put most of it in the fridge for breakfast. We take a leisurely moon-lit walk back to our room.

Another day gone, and more to come.

Next: April 26th, our anniversary. Remembering MK on our honeymoon. Mountains, Thunder and Fireworks.
