Cedar Point - what you don't see in the brochures

We're planning to visit in June, but can't decide where to stay. We thought about staying at one of the Cedar Point resorts, but not sure now after seeing these pictures and reading some of the reviews. Any suggestions for somewhere nice? We normally stay at deluxe resorts at WDW since we're DVC members. We're traveling with two teenagers (DD and friend).

Thanks!

Lisa

Kalahari :thumbsup2

We stayed there around 2000 give or take a yr. It was "old looking" & expensive then. However if you want to stay right there in the park, it is really great for that.

Thanks for your replies. How many days do you think we need in the area? We're thinking about spending two days at Cedar Point. Will our teenagers like taking the ferry over to the islands or will they be bored?

I personally like old hotels but not bedbugs! Those things seem to be popping up everywhere though. :(

2-3 days would probably be enough. I would personally plan a full day (park opening to closing) for CP and maybe a day to hang out at Kalahari -- they have both indoor and outdoor water parks.

I think that Put-in-Bay might be boring for teenagers. It's nice and my younger kids have enjoyed going and renting bikes to explore the island, but for teens, there might not be a whole lot for them to do that would interest them. It's primarily a 21-and-over crowd, especially past sunset.

Thanks! We're thinking about staying at Kalahari for two nights and somewhere else for the other two nights - mainly because of price. I was looking at VRBO and came across a place called Chesapeake Lofts. Do you know anything about it?

Can't say I've heard of it, but I looked it up and it looks nice. :thumbsup2

We stay at Lighthouse Point every year and will be there again in June. I wouldn't stay anywhere else personally. They don't compare to WDW deluxe, but we are comfortable there.
