Cedar Point -tips, tricks or bargains???

Word of warning about the price of eating at some of the chain restaurants in CP: you will get sticker shock. My 6" sub at Subway...sub only, no extras...was $7.44. "Five dollah foot long," what's that?? The young employee working behind the counter acted slightly annoyed when I asked for the Nine-Grain Wheat bread. Annoyed employee: "Ma'am, we only have white or regular wheat here." Me: "Oh, okay, I'll have the wheat then. And toasted please." Annoyed employee: "We don't have a toaster here." Me: "Oh, okay, that's fine. I'll have the turkey with mozzarella cheese, please." Increasingly annoyed employee: "We only have American cheese here." Me (now becoming somewhat annoyed myself): "Okay, then no cheese." At least they had black olives and banana peppers, my favorites. Move down to smiling cashier who says: "That will be $7.44." Me: "Oh, I just have the 6" sub. No drink or chips." Smiling cashier: "I know. That will be $7.44." Okay, I know I'm at an amusement park and jacked up prices is the name of the game, but for some reason I didn't get expect to get gouged at Subway. Silly me. :sad2:

I like to park in the back near the gemini. When you drive in you tell them you are going to the hotel breakers, and they will direct you to a road that goes all the way around the park. There is an entrance near the mini-golf that comes into the park by where you get off of the magnum. Not only does going in here get you to the back of the park, but we also are closer to our car when we go out to eat lunch. I usually pack a cooler full of sandwiches, drinks and other snacks and we go out and eat by the car in the afternoon. That way we don't have to carry stuff around with us and we don't have to go as far to get it out of the car.

Just returned from Cedar Point ... Word of advice STAY AWAY From the Sandcastle Suites .. this was our third trip to the point .. All three times we stayed at their resorts . NEVER AGAIN !! the first time was Breakers Express .. too small .. then we went to Castaway Bay .. ants in the room ... this time we were going to stay 4 nights at Sandcastle Suites well we stayed two and went to Great Wolf Lodge off site the last two ... We had bugs EVERYWHERE !! the screen on the balconly outside the room was covered then we had ANTS IN OUR BED one night that was it we left !! :scared1::scared1::scared1:... It was gross the pool was not clean and it was not worth the money !!! STAY off site the extra hour was really not worth it as we only used it once and only got on one ride !!

The point has really changed with the people who work there many are not from here and do not always understand you . We had lots of issues with rude people and I am from NYC where no one is suppose to be as rude as we are !! LOL ;)

We did enjoy Great Wolf Lodge it was clean and very nice ... Go to Famous Daves and eat it was well worth the money .. GO park in the back by Soak City as this was the best way in and out of the park !! Even after we check out of Sandcastle Suites we parked over there it was so much nicer !!

Ride Windseeker it was worth the wait .. ride at night it was great !! :thumbsup2

LOL We had the same experience in the water park but we figured it was better then the $7.50 for a little hot dog !! at least the sandwich was not that bad but the price was insane !! :thumbsup2

It was a great ride!! Didn't get to ride it at night though... next time!!

BUT next time we will be prepared for the VERY HIGH PRICED food and drinks! (soft drink) They will give you a small cup of water if you ask for it. I'm pretty sure they have Disney beat with their food and drink prices! :lmao:

We did have a great time though, loved most of the coaster's!!

We are going August 2nd I am not exactly thrilled but got outvoted. Is there any where you would recommend eating in the parks. I was trying to find online menus but haven't found much.

Look at my previous post about Famous Daves. Its outside of the park but on park property. You can walk from the park to Famous Daves in less than 10 minutes. Its located on the west side of the park. There is an entrance to the park which by the turnpike car ride.

A lot of the food in the park is your typical hot dogs/hamburger/corn dogs, fries. There are a few chain restaraunts such as Subway, Johnnie Rockets, & Panda Express.

The Breakers hotel is also one to stay away from. It is old and musty and in fact there is a disclaimer on the site that says the rooms smell. We stayed there about 7 years ago and complained about the smell. They sent someone girl who was not from this country, spoke very little english, to spray our room.
They have a hard time finding employees so they go to colleges outside of the country to recruit people. They house the employees in dorm style rooms with no A/C so they have a high rate of turn over.

Thank You, we have 15 people total going and not one will leave the park so was just looking for some ideas.

Mindyd we went to Cedar Pointe yesterday and ate at famous dave's. I'd not really call it off site you walk out the gate and it's literally right there maybe 2 football fields away? Shelly thanks for the tip about taking your parking receipt to get the $10 off, they don't really advertise that so not sure how you knew but thanks.

Thank you, maybe I will talk everyone into it. I keep hearing how expensive everything in the park is to eat so with getting the 10 off they might want to do it.

The new Pink's restaurant near the front is terriffic! Average price of a dog is about $6-7, but they are all specialty dogs loaded with toppings. The fries and onion rings are also great.

Another idea is the Midway Market next to Raptor. AYCE buffet for about $12 (lunchtime).

My family wants to go but they are planning on Labor Day weekend. I am sure crowds will be outrageous but hey, I am not paying...
We already are planning on renting a cabin at the KOA campsite. $119 a night and it sleeps 6-8. 3 bedrooms but only one bathroom. they do have campground bathrooms and showers so I am sure a few will use these at night.
I can use any hints for tickets if anyone hears of deals, like coke cans, Meijers, etc...
Someone wrote they brought in their own drinks. Will they allow that? I thought we might bring a stroller and put a cooler into it if that is allowed. Or do they allow wagons? Can you bring in your own food and snacks too? We thought we could grab cheaper subs off property and keep them in the car till noon then go out and eat in the car.
We haven't been to Cedar Point since 1998 so I am looking forward to it. We were there when they had a bad storm and 5 water spouts out in the lakes. Fun times...
I do remember the all you can eat place and my family makes sure they get their monies worth 3 boys, now men will eat them out of business.

You cannot bring in large coolers. They used to allow it, years ago and had picnic areas you could leave them at. Ended a while ago.

You can bring in drinks, water, etc... in plastic containers. YMMV......I've heard reports of it being done in the past.......but I've never experienced a "bag check" at CP like at WDW. We bring a water for each of us and sunscreen in a backpack. No reason you can't have a few snacks in a purse or bag, but you cannot bring a picnic feast.

regards

Hi, We were just there Sunday and I had a stroller w/a back pack cooler full of water bottles and snacks. We left a big cooler out at the picnic tables and I went out to fill back up with water when we were out. Noone ever looked in my bag. In fact we saw a wagon with a ledge on the back and a cooler on it being pushed around by an older couple. I was like uh, I wonder if I could've just put my cooler in my stroller and maybe put a towel on top of it? I saw someone else pushing a cooler around with a handle. Now it was terribly hot and humid so maybe they only had water in them and it was allowed. But I'd go ahead and try all they can do is say no and tell you to take it to the picnic area. Your own water comes in handy as they only give out little 8 oz glasses and sometimes there are lines to stand in to get them.

My husband and daughter went a few weeks ago. His bag was crammed with food and they were doing a bag check so as she was pushing aside sandwiches to get to the bottom he asked what they were looking for. "You know, food, drinks, whatever." She then smiled and told him he was all set.
:confused3
In theory you aren't supposed to take food but I practically grew up there and I've never known them to care.

for ticket deals check out their website and facebook page. Last year I got tickets for $30 each on their website for going on a certain day. Saves a bit of money and the crowd levels were very low that day.

So there is a Subway in the park to eat at? My DD has food allergies and Subway is safe for her to eat at....is it combined with other restaurants or is it just a Subway stand, just a Panda Express stand etc?

We brought our large cooler and left it at the front of the park picnic area in the first week of June :confused3. When did they shut down the picnic area? I don't know if you can actually tote around a full-size cooler, I think I have seen people with them in wagons but I've never tried to schlep one around myself.
