Cedar Point and "Guests of Exceptional Size"

Claudia, I've seen you, you weren't able to ride? If that's the case, then I won't bother going there. I don't like rollercoasters anyway, so it's no big loss.

I may be wrong but it seemed like larger hips and/or waists were more of a problem then larger chests (men especially). I didn't see anybody turned away from shoulder restrained rides, just seat belts and/or narrow seats.

Can anybody confirm or disagree?
Not at Cedar Point, but at Great Adventure(6 flags). I've seen tons of people turned away. Once I remember a guy that must have been 7 ft tall.He tried the test seat in front of Batman and ....SURPRISE....didn't fit. He waited in the whole line with his friends and then got up to the ride and tried again(like they were trying to trick him or something with the test seat) and ......SURPRISE.....he didn't fit. I'm 5ft tall. Does he really think the same restraints that hold me in are gonna hold him in? There's alot more people my size than his so sorry. Maybe someone can build a big and tall park for people over 6ft 9 or something.

haha o man. I was an CP last week for our schools senior trip and my friend told me about a girl who goes to our school. Shes rather big (not the funny part) she was on like millenium force or something, irrelevant, couldnt fit. And the attendent came over to her and tried to make her leave, she screams out "hold on let me get my **** in place" hahaha. you tell them girl.

oh - and not to beat a dead horse - but for a park that has restrictions on "size/weight" for their rides...they really don't help out much by having the CRAPPIEST food selection on the earth.

I couldn't find one remotely healthy thing to eat in that park unless I went to one of the sit down places!
i was saying that too! i spent a million dollars on very crappy and unhealthy food. i also gave a speech to my friends about how disney parks have far better quality food and selection. about how they had healthy choices. but then again i am biased.

They might as well have signs on the ticket booth that say "tall, busty, and fat people not allowed". It certainly would save people from spending money for something they can't fully use.

That would be discrmination. :sad2:
If they word it using "people of exceptional size", however, it is not.

I'm with you! Just tell it like it is! :teeth:

This is going to affect alot of people who want to go to CP or take their kids.

Like I said in my last post, if this is the case then CP should rethink their ticket prices to include weight. Instead of just going by age & height, they should now go by age, height, and weight.

I guess we aren't going to go to Cedar Point this year. I did notice at Great America in Gurnee some of the straps were hard to buckle, I just thought WTH!. I think the worst one was Raging Bull. At Batman the ride the have seats outside the area to let you test if you fit or not, the same with the new Superman Ride. Either I loose weight or my roller coaster days are done.

Is your Superman the Ultimate Flight or one of the others? If it's Ultimate flight do you have a dual loading platform like GA or are you single like us (NJ)?

It is the Ultimate Flight one. They have 2 sets. I don't know what yo mean about dual loading platform. It seats 4 across and yo stand in line for the area you want to ride on. It takes a very long time to get on. We were one of the first people to get in line and the line was already a 20 minute wait.

Well, I don't think theme parks are to blame for the fact that 60% of America (100% of the DIS, judging from the respsonses) is making bad choices and are now overweight. One day of eating junk food at a theme park does not make a person fat. So, stop blaming a theme park for serving junk food. I think theme parks are trying their best to adjust to a "growing" America while avoiding lawsuits. It's too bad it's come to this, but I really think people who are overweight need to take a good look at their lifestyle and stop blaming a theme park for discrimination. Lose weight for goodness sake and you can go on whatever rides you choose.

wow.

ok - first off. I'm not overweight. I choose to eat healthy. My stomach cannot...well...stomach greasy, fried food. I did pay the price for eating crap at that park for a day...my stomach was in knots and it was a very uncomfortable plane ride home.

I don't think it's too much to ask for there to be "OPTIONS" available to those who don't eat junk.

In NJ there's one line, 1 train(at a time). In GA, the line splits at some point and then they load 2 trains at the same time, one side goes and then the other. It workds better,IMO, b/c it keeps the line moving. Now, if you have the dual loading one(which I think from what you said you do) and it's still slow to you. You should come to Nj and see how slow our line is. I got to do media Day when it opened and rode it 5 or 6 times. One other time we went and got a Qbot(6 flags to Disney translation:fastpass) so we did it that time too. Other than that, I won't ride it b/c the line is extremely long.

Nice try there, but the ride restrictions include those who are busty and those that are tall. How is losing weight going to help with that?

um, who was blaming CP for people being fat? We were complaining about the lack of choices and poor quality food and as well the new restrictions on ride size. they were 2 unrelated conversations. i was complaining about the food because i didnt feel healthy eating crap all day with all the greasy food.

No reason for me to even go to CP, paying that much for a ticket and then not being able to ride half of the rides.

I have two things going againest me, being busty and having hips. Both thanks to having kids {not a weight issue}. The "twins" seemed to went up a cup size with each kid. :guilty: Then like every other woman in my family my hips got a little wider. Nothing I can do about that since that has to do with my bones. :sad2:

It has been a very long time since I have been to CP. Just to give some idea of how long, the Magnum{spelling?} was the newest coaster at the time.

The term they use is pretty umm, don't even have a name for it... interesting! You could be exceptional small as well... oh well, guess someone's belt may have been not connected properly by an attendant and in turn they sued. Stinks for the rest of us.

I was at Kings Island last week with my school group and got a "reservation ticket" (I kept calling it a Fast Pass) for their newest ride, The Italian Job. I am not a big person,5' 2", and I had a difficult time getting in and out of this ride. The cars are VERY small. However, there were no restictions and the safety restraints were checked by the attendants. The biggest problem I have with Kings Island is how short the rides are-several are less than a minute!

...the best part was watching peoples faces at "launch"!
Yep...... the launch on Rock N' Roller Coaster ain't got nothing on this bad boy :teeth:
you can barely even keep your eyes open during the launch because of the pressure of the air going against your face.
