I think publicizing high profile people willing to take the vaccine early might help convince the vaccine skeptics. However there have been anti vaccine people for some time, which has put others at risk. Not sure if any amount of encouragement is going to solve that issue.

You're preaching to the choir here - again, I'm just trying to find a way to reach the people who currently don't feel safe about receiving a vaccine that has been developed relatively quickly, with a very short term of testing.

Absolutely not. People should take it out of ethical concern for humanity, not by force.

And it ain't just Jenny McCarthy...there are people out there who believe that these vaccines are simply a way for Bill Gates to inject them with some sort of tracking device. I do not think people should be forced to get the vaccines but I’ll be lobbying hardcore for my family to get them. I already told my DH that my kids and I will be waiting in the Walgreens parking lot for ours. We’ll bring snacks, make a day of it and I hope he joins us. I’m hoping the younger generation (20s, 30s, teens) are open to it because I believe that’s where the difference will be made. They’re the ones who are out and about and have the highest potential of bringing the virus home.

This is not accurate. The data says that 95 people in the study got Covid and 90 of them were placebos. Not sure where you got 200 from.

The Moderna plus the Pfizer both stopped with a little less than one hundred participants getting COVID. This is super early. But it creates good headlines.

I read an interesting opinion piece that said rather than vaccinating the "high risk" people like the elderly first, we should instead vaccinate the "social butterflies." I.E. the people most at risk of being super spreaders or attending superspreader events. Increasingly, it has become clear that superspreader events are fueling this pandemic. Let's vaccinate everyone, say 18-35, first. This group is most likely to continue socializing and spreading the virus. If we can get first responders and this group of people vaccinated, the virus spread will slow way down.

For me, the best case scenario is that people see after a few weeks that their friends and relatives are not dying and they lose their fear and get it. Second best case scenario is that businesses, entertainment venues, etc require you to be vaccinated to participate.

I mean, I agree with both sides. I absolutely feel like doctors, nurses, and anyone else that works in a healthcare or elderly care setting should be priority #1, but with limited supply available at first, it does seem to make more sense to vaccinate the younger crowd who has a higher risk of spreading the virus to all these old people, rather than the elderly themselves.
