I swear to God, I just spoke to a client who runs a charter fishing company in Florida. He is losing $13,000 every month. He has zero of his 5 vessels in the water currently. He has laid off half of his staff.

This news today- knowing that he can plan on having an actual busy season sometime next year- will literally keep his company in existence. It's that important.

If people can hold on I suspect they should do their best. Once things get humming again even the so-so establishments will be fighting people off, especially businesses based outside which will be favored by the willing but cautious. There will be those ok to fly early who will jet all over but I expect most will just swarm out from their homes in cars at first, testing the water not far from base in case there is a change of a worrisome surge which will float local economies quickly and steadily.

My guess is the US will see renewed domestic travel within before we venture out that will cover a great deal of financial ground at an unexpectedly fast rate. The lack of spending we are enduring as a country right now is completely deliberate on the part of those with disposable income. Families who have kept jobs will have more to spend and be in much better financial health once this is over and they will be looking to celebrate as groups. I'm imagining parties that will dwarf the Victory days of WW2, and I already warned my kids to be careful I don't want any unexpected Second Boomer grandkids ahead of schedule .

As individuals humans are tough but as a group we are fairly predictable.

Excellent points. For many, not traveling isn't about fear of Covid, it's about just not being able to go anywhere. Nothing is open. Concerts, cruises, parks (as we know) are still closed. Once they open, it's game on for enough people to make all that viable quickly.

I think people want to go but there is real fear, I know I have real fear so I am not spending until the coast is clear. Supply side economics doesn't really work well, the demand has to be there then it can be manipulated, to a certain degree, but you can't get things going without demand. It's like water flowing down a chute, first you need the water before you can worry about where you want it to go.

The problem with that is that person doesn't exist. With every shred of evidence out there saying vaccines work and are far safer than not getting vaccinated, there will always be people who trust Jenny McCarthy.

I’ve read several of articles/interviews with Fauci this weekend. I did not have to hunt for them, they were pretty much front page news. He sounds very optimistic.

Thanks for mentioning Fauci! He is certainly one person that many have been focused on when trying to following the science. Also, he appears currently to be very willing to be interviewed on a variety of shows/channels. Regardless of which media you tune in to, or read, I think you will be able to hear from him. I personally trust Fauci’s experience at this point more than some of the members of the president elect’s Covid 19 task force as he has been involved since the get go. Your results may differ.

You're preaching to the choir here - again, I'm just trying to find a way to reach the people who currently don't feel safe about receiving a vaccine that has been developed relatively quickly, with a very short term of testing.

I’m not going to bother with most of that, but I’ll just cover what’s in it for me:

What’s in it for me is desperately wanting the world to recover from the worst pandemic it’s seen in 100 years. See people get their jobs back. See people happy again. See people able to see friends and relatives they haven’t seen in a year. See mental health crises alleviated.

And most importantly, I want to see people stop dying from a disease that we can now prevent with a vaccine that has demonstrated no major side effects.

You’re either with getting rid of Covid or you’re with keeping it around to kill for a few more years. If you don’t get vaccinated or don’t get your kids vaccinated or worse if you convince anyone here not to get vaccinated then you’re essentially working to keep Covid in our lives for longer than needed.

Ah yes, those of us who are opposed to getting a rushed out vaccine don't want any of that.

The "new" team will work just fine with Birx and Fauchi as well as others.
These are all seasoned folks in the areas of epidemiology, public health and government. They know each other. They respect one another.
They understand the mission.

The problem with that is that person doesn't exist. With every shred of evidence out there saying vaccines work and are far safer than not getting vaccinated, there will always be people who trust Jenny McCarthy.

...and that's why I said that "most" can trust. Of course you're never going to get 100% of the population to trust this...it's just the way it is. And it ain't just Jenny McCarthy...there are people out there who believe that these vaccines are simply a way for Bill Gates to inject them with some sort of tracking device. What are you going to do?
