Whoa so Epcot to BLT is Monorail only?
When WDW offers an alternate form of transportation that is usually the ONLY form of transportation for that park route from that resort. You won't find a regular bus from Riviera to Epcot or DHS because you have the Skyliner. YC/BC/BW are boat or walk to DHS and Epcot.

Disney will only add busses to these routes when they have to close the Skyliner or waterways for inclement weather.

I used usually because there are some exceptions like WL has a bus and boat to MK.

And even more examples when the route is busy enough to need it. And at times I think Epcot to some monorail resorts should maybe consider running a few busses. Especially the Contemporary/BLT as that return trip is just so long

They run both Monorail + Boat options from Poly and VGF (and the TTC of course) to MK for example

I think MK is special which is why WL also has two options there as well.

The GF/MK walking path is a godsend. GF is horrible when the monorail goes down. I had it happen before MVMCP one year pre-walking path and it was chaos waiting for a big boat to be dispatched to the resort. The little one just can't move many people servicing two resorts.

Gah! Does anyone know if there is a way to tell if your Monorail from Epcot to BLT is going to take an hour or longer? I would catch a Minnie Van if it were to be that long.

Ugh this is why I wanted to own at crescent lake and mk to alternate parks each trip, but this trip will be a special trip where the family going with has never been and wants to do all 4 parks.

No way to know until you're past Epcot security 🤣 You can look at MK closing times and hard ticketed events, but the monorail moves a ton of people.

When I split Crescent Lake/MK I only do the parks I can get to easily. Crescent Lake is all my DHS and Epcot time. MK is MK and AK since that's bus only and I just Minnie Van it.

If you're afraid of getting back to BLT I would personally walk out the IG and get a Minnie Van from BC or BW.

For the most part, unless multiple monorails are out for repair, monorail service is reasonably predictable.

The MK loop is crowded at the start and end of hard ticket events. The start of hard ticket events can be surprisingly bad--as one group of guests are using the resort monorails to get back to their hotels as MK closes to them and another group are using the same trains to go from their hotel to the park. Side note: during MK hard ticket parties, DVC pools near MK are usually very empty.

The MK loop is crowded from late November to New Years as people check out the gingerbread houses (probably less so this year, due to the refurb at GF).

The entire monorail system will be overwhelmed just after closing during major holiday periods. At MK, you'll know because you'll see the metal stanchions by the monorail entrance likely when you arrive.

This will be especially bad if there are special fireworks displays (New Year's, Fourth of July, etc.). If you leave after fireworks on one of these days expect to wait an hour or more for any mode of transportation. On the Fourth or NYE, I'd do everything imaginable to ensure I stayed at a resort that I could walk to (Crescent Lake for EPCOT or BLT, VGF or even Poly for MK),

But outside of this, I rarely see situations where a line for the monorail is more than 10 or 15 minutes. It happens, but it's rare.

Well, yes, which is why I said outside of closing times and ticketed events.

Weather is also a big factor and affects monorail crowds.

Friday night in Epcot closing F&W with a hard ticketed event in MK is a recipe for disaster, but people still need to get home. If you're in any park until closing and utilizing WDW transportation expect delays.

Not exactly lol I’d say @disneylandtour has it pretty much right but sometimes, you just gotta take a deep breath and accept that it’s part of the Disney experience lol 🤷🏼‍♀️

We’re not huge split stay people, especially for short trips and the idea of only doing Epcot or HS for 3-4 days in a row and then only MK for a few days and then only AK for a few days really doesn’t appeal to me. We love to bop around all trip. We go to one park in the morning and dinner at another park in the evening and then drinks at springs later. Or dinner at a different resort far from the park of the day. We’re too unpredictable to be able to adjust our park visits to which resort we’re staying at, and nor would we want to personally.

Don’t get me wrong when we’re at BCV we do a lot of Epcot time just cause we’re right there and even if we didn’t have plans there, we just go in and grab some coffee or a snack or ride Guardians and then leave, almost daily.

But otherwise, we just accept that depending on where we’re staying, some journeys will be longer than others lol…this might also be why we love Riviera so much. It’s easy to stay there all trip and not feel burdened by Disney transportation. It’s pretty even tempered and timed from RIV no matter where we’re going.

I thought they only add a bus from Epcot to the monorail resorts if the monorail is down? So unless they changed that, your only option would’ve been monorail anyway (well of the normal routes). Probably doesn’t make you feel any better, but it was mostly out of your hands 🤷🏼‍♀️ lol

Are we all on the same page, talking Epcot to BLT.? Why would there not be a bus?

No bus because CR is a monorail resort. You monorail to Epcot and MK or walk to MK. Those are your options for CR. Disney does not offer a bus to CR from Epcot unless there are extenuating circumstances.

If you see the bus sign at CR it won't have a time listed for MK or Epcot. It will say take the monorail.

Interesting… but as someone posted earlier, you can take a WL bus, then any bus after, because the Epcot bus just turns around and goes right back to Epcot?

Are there buses from MK to Epcot? I know when I was targeting BLT (before my CCV purchases), others on this board shared how one of the benefits of BLT was that, in addition to CR transportation, you could also walk over to the MK bus area and take buses directly to where you were going. But, I can't remember whether folks were suggesting that just for other resorts or also for Epcot/HS/AK too. I assume there'd be buses from MK to HS and AK, but maybe they similarly don't have buses to Epcot since MK is on the monorail.

Good to know, thank you. I will remember to not have our Epcot day when they have after hours at MK, which they do during our visit.

Yes, you can most likely jump on another bus at WL. Just all depends on time of day. A MK bus won't stop at CR. If you're closing down Epcot this season when it's open later you may be hard pressed to find another bus outside of Disney Springs since DHS and AK both close earlier than Epcot. If DHS is open later it's a Jollywood Night which brings another layer of fun with a ticketed event.

You are correct. There is no MK to Epcot or Epcot to MK bus since they're connected via monorail very much like the resorts.

You can ride these park to park busses starting at 10am:
  • Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios
  • Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom
  • Epcot and Animal Kingdom
  • Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom

So, if no bus from between MK and Epcot, perhaps an alternative way to get to Epcot from CR/BLT would be a Beach & Yacht or Boardwalk bus from the MK bus area. Maybe worth it if you'd prefer to start your Epcot visit from the Int'l Gateway rather than the front of the park.

This is what we usually do when staying at VGF - we walk to MK and take the bus to BCV and walk to IG. Plus is that in the morning, buses back to BC are almost always empty.
