CDC Notifies States, Large Cities To Prepare For Vaccine Distribution As Soon As Late October

Yeah it's pitiful the amount of doses we're getting from them. It's a reason why I was so surprised my husband's company (who I found out is doing a partnership with a pharmacy) got J&J because of hearing about the production issue that caused all this delay weeks ago.

According to my state we're getting 5,000 doses next week and 1,700 each week for the last two weeks of April :sad2:

Looking at vaccination clinics in my state and metro places are just using up whatever supply they've got to try and make usage of a 1 shot vaccine.

Literally the only thing J&J has going for them right now with all their production issues is that it's 1 dose. Just couldn't imagine if this was a 2 dose one..

I really, really hope you’re right, because it’s incredibly demoralizing to see cases increasing again when vaccinations are happening. I’m just so mentally exhausted and ready to see consistent hopeful news.

we will. The trends have already changed significantly despite the overall numbers plateauing. Deaths are the lowest they’ve been since October and still falling.

It is interesting here in my city in Western NY the J&J is the most sought after vaccine. Both of my boys (18 and 23) got it and I have had many people ask me to try and find them appointments. Apparently my 2nd job should be vaccine scheduler. I was able to find my SIL's co worker an appointment for yesterday afternoon. My husbands college received 500 doses to give out so it is out there.

Just saw on the news that a couple J&J sites closed down due to adverse reactions.

yes, just saw this... in North Carolina and Colorado. This, along with questions regarding quality issues at that manufacturing site are going to hurt moving forward If J&J doesn’t get its act together quickly.

The UK has gone from reporting 1,200 deaths per day to 30.

This is good to hear. I thought they were having trouble getting vaccine supply.

Would you get the J&J vaccine given the news this morning? I am struggling with this.

Absolutely. Number one, this is an anomaly. Millions of people have now gotten this vaccine without issue. Two, the "adverse reactions" that we are talking about? Nausea and dizziness. Basically, the potential side effects of almost any medicine.

So you don't think there is some larger problem with the vaccine? I have family scheduled to get J&J this weekend. So far the clinic has not been canceled so I am hoping for the best.

I had to evaluate this morning morning as well. I received J&J a month ago with only a sore arm as a side effect. I literally just secured an appointment for my 20yr old son at 5am this morning for J&J. Looking into the allergic reactions a bit more, I don’t have any worries. The reactions were light-headedness and nausea with 8 people (I think?) out of thousands. It could be a reaction to the shot, or dehydration, or anxiety/stress, or any other explanation. It is mild enough (IMO)

Debbie said it better than I ever could. Please take her post as my exact feelings here.

Yes, the more I research, the better I feel. I don't think they are shutting down any other clinics. The only thing that concerned me was that some people fainted. I thought that was a little severe of a reaction. The nausea, headaches are expected I think, but the fainting made me nervous,

Both of my sons received the J&J and the convenience of the one and done greatly outweighed the other 2 vaccines for them. They were both fine. There are reports of people fainting with any of the vaccines, but the most important thing in order to move forward is to get a vaccine. As my son said he would take any of the vaccines on any day that ended in y.

I wouldn't necessarily make that assumption. Some probably are... but as the percentage of the most vulnerable who are vaccinated increases, at least in my area, the willingness to comply with public health measures decreases. Because now it isn't about trying not to kill Grandma. Grandma is vaccinated. And the assumption is that younger people who get the virus will be just fine, so there's no (or less) need to prevent spread.

Just saw this....Scott Gottlieb tweeted it out, in favor of this pause for Michigan.
