Hello everyone. We are travelling to Disney in a couple of weeks and we were just offered to upgrade from the CBR to Contemporary Resort. We are going to HS and EPCOT the first two days of parks and than MK and the Christmas After Party on our final park day. Three days of parks in total.

Tuesday: Arrive
Wednesday: HS
Thurs: Epcot
Friday: MK and afterparty
Saturday: Resort day / visiting resorts
Sunday: Depart hotel for Universal hotel

Would you stay at CBR for the first three nights and then move to the Contemporary Resort during the MK day for a two night stay? Is it worth it? We have a 9, 7, and 1 year old along with grandma.

Thank you for any suggestions or feedback.

PS: Got an offer for Fort Wilderness cabins as well but transportation is tougher there so we ruled that out.

If you can swing it, then with your crew and the plan of MK and afterparty? I say yes, absolutely. It’s so fantastic to walk quickly back and forth to the MK (there is a You Tube video from last year that shows it well), and I think you’ll be especially pleased on your MK/AH day, as you can get the kids back for a rest very easily and then return to the MK. This will also give you an easy way to visit both GF (monorail) and WL (boat from MK) on your last day to view holiday decorations, which may be up in a few weeks - those two resorts are especially lovely at the holidays. Have fun!

Thank you.

Is it easy to have luggage transferred over? Since we have to be at the park early for MK, trying to think how we can get the luggage to contemporary.

Keep in mind that EPCOT is only a monrail ride (with a change of monorails) away from CR, as well. Taking the monorail to EPCOT probably isn't much different from taking Skyliner. One bus ride to/from HS isn't terrible, so we'd probably opt for CR as a better location, and not resort switch with the young kids. But your options are all good!!

Disney bell services handles that very well. You'd leave it with bell at your first resort. Bell Services will make one run with luggage later in the afternoon, so it's likely to arrive at your new resort in the 4P-6P time frame. When you get to your room at the new resort, you can call bell to have it delivered. So you will be without access to the luggage for several hours. They also will no longer transport refrigerated items.

I totally agree. I was trying to decide about the resort switch (also a pain), but in the end, I kept thinking about coming back from that holiday party late at night after a day at the MK. I kind of think the switch is the lesser of evils, if you will, as long as OP is willing to be without luggage for a bit. The ideal strategy would be CR for the whole time, but if that's not doable...

I can't believe anyone would turn down CC cabins because of transportation. I would swim to MK, Hike to Epcot and bike to DHS with that upgrade! pirate:

I would not split a five night stay with three kids in tow. It will be much easier to bus and monorail to DHS and EP from CR than to pack up all of your stuff and move to another resort. Keep in mind, you would be without a room until 3 pm at the earliest on the switch day and then have to unpack on that day as well. That’s a lot of hassle on a party night.

That's a good point. I'd even go so far as to say 'at least 3pm' is likely - could be later.
