Ok I just got a call from my travel agent telling me we could save $500+ if we downgrade from a preferred room to a standard room for our May '07 trip at CBR. Apparently, the bonus code will only work on a standard room booking.

So, what do I do? :confused3 Right now we're paid for preferred location. But a savings of $500 would be great. But I'm afraid to be out in left field as far as room location goes if we book a standard room. Are there standard room locations that we can request that are close enough to the food court, main pool, bus stops, etc. It's me, DH & DD (5). Please help quick - - I need to respond today! Thanks so much!

Definitely Jamaica. We were in Building 41, Room 4154. We were upstairs and faced a pretty courtyard. The walk to the Jamaica bus stop was just about 3 minutes and the walk to the food court/main pool/restaurant/marina was just about 5 minutes. We also found that, sometimes, Jamaica was the first bus stop to pick up and let off.

If you can't get Jamaica, ask for Aruba. Both of the villages are just across the bridge from all the above.

I'd definitely save that $500.00 for something else!

Lisa

P.S. We're heading back to the CBR in just 69 days!

The absolute best location would be Jamaica 45...right at the foot of the bridge that leads to Old Port Royale. The next best would be Jamaica 46, 44 or Aruba 51 or 52. I do know there are smoking rooms in Aruba 51 if it's a concern to be away from smoke. That's the only building that has smoking available.

What they both said!!!!

BTW - a 'preferred' room is one with a king size bed. 'Standard' rooms are ones that are your run of the mill, seen-one-seen-em-all Disney resort rooms. Just make sure you put in a request for one of the rooms mentioned above when the reservation is made.

I would downgrade and save the $500 for shopping and dining. You can drive your car over to the food court, leave it parked there for the day, hope the bus from the food court area....

Your TA is doing a great job! Request Jamaica or Aruba like the other posters suggested and save the $$$$.....who knows, there are free upgrades upon check in at times! I always book standard/GV..etc...I save the $$ and roll the dice at check in...have been pretty "lucky"! :) What's the worse that can happen...having a room at a Disney Resort?! :)

A preferred room is one near the food court and main pool at CBR. You can book standard, water view, king bed, or preferred.

A preferred location at CBR is great. The room would be in the buildings close to Old Port Royale.

You can get more information on CBR in the CBR FAQ thread listed below.

FYI- About two days ago my dbf and I upgraded our July trip from Pop to CBR. Now, just so that you know preferred rooms are in Martinique or Trinidad North BUT you can also pay for a waterview room at CBR. We paid for niether because we were happy enough with the upgrade. So far we have only requested Non Smoking but we will be amending our request to be in either the Jamaica or Aruba section of the resort. That being said, unless I get a great CM who gives me a room a little nicer than I paid for, my standard view room will not be in the close location, AND not have a water view. I figured we would be happy with anything, since the resort it big we will probably explore it alot instead of watching the view out our window. But it seems location is important to you so I just thought elaborating on what standard rooms are not might be helpful! I am so excited about CBR in any case! Its my second trip to WDW ever and I stayed at ASMo last time so I was surprise to get the upgrade AND can't wait to stay in a mod let alone CBR!!!

BTW - a 'preferred' room is one with a king size bed. 'Standard' rooms are ones that are your run of the mill, seen-one-seen-em-all Disney resort rooms.
Sorry, but this is absolutely incorrect information.:)

At CBR, there are 3 possible "upgrades" that you can pay for and thus guarantee. And you can only pay for and guarantee one of them, you can't combine and guarantee two or more. You can request all you want, but can't guarantee more than one.

"Preferred location" is any room in one of the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale.

"Water view" is a room that has a view of Barefoot Lake or a quiet pool; since all 6 villages are on the lake and all 6 villages have their own quiet pool, all 6 villages have some water view rooms.

"King-size bed" has, well, a king-size bed. The king-size bed rooms are pretty randomly sprinkled throughout CBR.

And by the way, each village has its own bus stop (and so does Old Port Royale), so there's no such thing as a room or a village that is far from a bus stop.
