Up until our last WDW visit we've always opted to stay at a Value Resort(POP, AOA, ASM). Our last visit (Sept 2017) I decided to surprise the wife and spend the extra money and try a Moderate Resort, Port Orleans Riverside Royal Room.

We loved it so much and find it difficult to try anything else.

Would like to get a consensus if it is worth trying CBR for our upcoming trip or stick with POR Riverside?

We would like to try something different, however its hard to convince ourselves to try something different when we really enjoyed POR so much.

FYI, not willing to pay the prices of the Deluxe resorts at this time (but one day we will).
TIA

Is it just you two ?
Did you see Yehaw Bob in the Lounge?
Will you be using the boat to Disney Springs?

Why not? CNR is a large resort, but POR is as well. I think it is fun to stay at different resorts, and have made a point of doing so. I think you might weant to check out CSR as well. It is one pretty resort!

We used the boat last time to Disney Springs. While it was nice and convenient, it seemed much faster to just drive ourselves. Yes we did see Bob.

Well based on that I would say try a new resort, the kids will love the Pirate Splash play area at CBR.

Avoid the pirate rooms, the rest of the rooms are newly renovated.

I would add that, if possible, it is nice to have the convenience of a preferred room at CBR.

If staying standard we enjoyed Jamaica 45 and 44. Just across the bridge to OPR and near a bus stop

We love CBR, the pool is pretty nice. We like how large it is. If you stay at CBR, I'd pay extra for the preferred room, it's well worth the extra $$

I have wanted to stay at CBR. So I jumped at an opportunity to stay there for three nights in early Jan. All that was available were pirate rooms. I thought they were cute, but a long walk to the food court! I might try it again, but would book a preferred room location.
On the other hand, I adore POR! I've stayed in a room that was directly behind the food court (preferred), a royal room, a room in the mansion section, a room way back in AB. Loved them all. For some reason, I didn't mind the walk to the back of AB from the food court! Just love this resort.
I just stayed at CSR...loved it was very pleasantly surprised. It's a lovely resort.

Your kids at that age will enjoy the pool area at CBR (if they like water play)...it's a great pool for little kids. Regarding room, get a preferred room (as it's a huge resort) and you'll be set. I stayed there years ago as a young adult and enjoyed myself...and I expect younger kids would enjoy it even more.

Now, POR royal rooms are among my favorite at WDW. But if you want to experience new moderate resorts with really young kids, I think CBR is a good one to try.

As mentioned the pool is great for the kids. The downside is the food court set up where you need to pay at each individual station. With kids that can be a pain because usually not everyone wants stuff from the same place.

Thanks for the input. I feel better about giving CBR a shot for our next trip. I like the pool/splash pad area at CBR after watching a few videos. At POR we went over to FQ a few times to use the splash pad there and the two kids did not want to leave the splash pad.

CBR is a really pretty resort, I would try it since you've never stayed there. The pool would be great for your kids. The only drawback we found was that the bus service was really slow at times.

CBR. We've stayed at CBR, CSR and POR and my kids still love CBR the best because of the pool and theme. Food court and play area is great as well.

We are opposite. Stayed at CBR with the kids and loved it. We took a vote and decided to try something new, so POR here we come in Aug!

Definitely try out CBR. It's my favorite mod. The kids will love their splash pad and it's all around a beautiful resort. Love it so much!

I think you made a good decision. I would add that paying for a preferred room is not necessary. Ask for a room in the Jamaica section, it is right across the bridge from the pool/food court and not a 5 minute walk if you are walking as slow as you can possibly walk. There is a bus stop right behind it, last stop to pick up before the parks and first stop to let out coming back from the parks.

If you don't book a preferred room you may have a bit of a walk to the themed pool. I stayed once at CBR in a standard room. Never again. I would only book preferred at CBR.
