ETA: I altered this post to gain opinions of Caribbean Beach Resort & Port Orleans Riverside. We are considering staying one of them for an upcoming trip.

This trip will be me, my DH, & my 18 month old DD in one room, my parents in another room. We are looking to have either queen beds or a king bed.

I stayed CBR with my DH in 2008 & we had a wonderful experience (aside from the pool being under construction, but it's obviously a non-issue now). I stayed at POR BACK WHEN IT WAS DIXIE LANDINGS. Have not been back since.

My parents stayed at CBR about 4 years ago & had a terrible experience. Room was in terrible condition.

Where can I find recent pics of the rooms at both resorts? I know CBR resort is quite large, but my DH & I stayed in Jamaica when we stayed there and found it quite close to the main building and buses. Not sure if Jamaica is an additional fee now. The theming of POR is so cute (especially the Alligator Bayou). My parents often stay at POFQ, but I'm soooo sick of that resort-stayed there 3x already and just looking for a change.

Thanks!:goodvibes

We love CBR and it's our favorite moderate. Since you've already stayed there, you already know the biggest complaints people have about it; the size and double beds. We like the size of the resort and the double beds are a non issue for us. On a side note, CBR is supposed to start a room rehab in April that will include Queen beds. The main pool is great and we have a hard time getting our DS11 out of it to go to the parks.

We too love Jamaica and it is considered a non preferred location. Our favorite is Jamaica 45 as it is the closest to the bridge over to OPR. We have never had an issue with any of our rooms. They have always been very clean and mousekeeping has been great. Just like any resort, there are those that really don't like CBR. But we haven't been able to make reservations anywhere else the last 4 trips because we love CBR so much.

Check out the CBR FAQ thread for more info.

I went from yearly tourist to local resident two years ago but used to stay at a different resort every year. Not sure if you mean Caribbean Beach or Coronado Beach but Ive stayed at both. I personally liked the Coronado Beach better. The rooms just seemed newer to me and the pool was amazing. Since you are a veteran guest you probably know but will remind you when you check in, ask for a map of available rooms and pick one nearest a bus stop...unless you plan on driving. The main restaurant and food court at Caribbean Beach I thought was better, but not enough to lure me from Coronado

Thank you-I definitely mean Caribbean Beach, NOT Coronado Springs.

I thought CBR had a room rehab in the last few years? Where can I see recent pics of the rooms at CBR? I looked on that thread, but the first page was from 2010. & no queen beds? So, would standard rooms be full beds & you would pay extra for a king sized bed?

Hmmm.....I'm torn between CBR & POR. I'm wondering if I should change this thread to add on POR thoughts, so I can get a comparison....

They have changed the bedding this year. They removed the bedspread and added a runner at the bottom of the bed. All the WDW are in the process of getting this style of bedding and removing the bedspreads.

Towards the end of the CBR FAQ thread there are a bunch. Plus in the CBR Picture Thread.

No queens. A king room is $25 more.

We have stayed at POR and prefer CBR. We like the pool and food court better that PORs. We like that every village has its own bus stop and quiet pool. We really like the tropical feel. POR is a lovely resort too, we just happen to prefer CBR. You can't go wrong with either one.

Thank you :) So, CBR has a bus stop at every village? Do these buses go to the parks or do they just go to the main building to get a park bus?

Does POR have quiet pools as well?

I will check out the picture thread-thank you!

Yes, every village has one and there is one at Old Port Royale too, where the food court is. The buses go to the parks and DTD. Plus there is an internal bus that just makes the rounds of the resort.

Does POR have quiet pools as well?

Yes, POR has 5 quiet pools spread throughout the resort.

Just returned from 9 days at POR; two years ago we stayed 9 days at CBR. We've stayed in both resorts during the same week of August. I know now that I prefer CBR of POR...Busses seem to run more regularly, food court is better, and the quite pools were not packed the way they were at POR. Overall, CBR was a much happier place, at least to me.

Thank you :)

What about POR? How spread out is it? Are the bus stops plentiful there as well? How long a walk are the POR buildings to the bus stops, on average? I don't mind walking-just thinking about a cranky baby coming back for a nap in the afternoon;)

I am slightly more attracted to the POR theming, but I also want to make sure I am choosing practically as well.

Hello there! I am going to go against the grain of the responses on this thread and say Go for it!!! for POR. We love it there so very much! It is beautiful, convenient, great food court, the boat to DTD is fun and a great way to get around, Old man island swimming hole is awesome, and nothing is really a far walk (to us at least) because it is all built around Old man island, so there are bridges that go across from all the rooms to Old man island and then bridges connect to the main area with the food court, check in area ect.

There are 4 bus stops around the perimeter of the resort so none of them are far either. All of the rooms have also been renovated and queen beds added within the last two years so everything is nice and new and clean.

Check out www.portorleans.org for great facts and LOTS of pics!

Oh and you HAVE to check out Piano Bob at the lounge on certain nights.....He is so funny, my kids had a BLAST!

Good luck to you guys!

We are CBR fans all the way and love everything about it. The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful and the theming is well done. I forgot to look at the original poster's ticker to see their arrival date but I've been told that the CBR will be undergoing a refurb somewhere around April, 2014. The rooms will be getting a makeover and queen beds.

We stayed at French Quarter for one night on our most recent trip and we were ready to get back to our beloved CBR. The theming of the Port Orleans resort just didn't do it for us.

Not interested in POFQ. We've stayed there a few times & I'm really bored of it. The theming of POR looks really pretty though. I stayed in Alligator Bayou when it was Dixie Landings & really enjoyed it. I'm leaning toward POR, despite the higher reviews for CBR. I like that POR rooms have been renovated.

Not 100% sure yet-please keep the opinions coming!

Any negatives to either resort, that have not been mentioned?

I say go for POR. I stayed there hesitantly recently and really loved it! CBR is nice, but I just found the lobby, bar, restaurants, etc at POR to be much...I don't know, just a tad above CBR. I'd say that CBR is where we'd stay if we wanted Poly but needed to save money. POR is where we'd stay if we wanted Wilderness Lodge or GF but needed to save money.

I loved the piano guy at the bar at night, the grounds were lovely, and the Tiana room was actually much nicer than I expected.

POR is now the only moderate my husband will stay in!

We have stayed at both POR and CBR. We enjoyed both. I would say that my kids liked CBR better because of the pool and the beaches. My wife and I liked POR better. Just more to our taste. We felt the food court was better and the boat to DTD was great. Can't go wrong with either one really.

Thank you for your input :) Not as concerned with the pool for this trip. My DD is still too young to enjoy the big CBR pool. We are planning to just take her to the quiet pool, as it will be her first time in a real pool (she has nly been in a tiny inflatable one).

May I ask which building of POR you stayed in and what you thought about your room?
