We have reservations for POFQ in June. We stayed their on our honeymoon in '93 and thought it would be fun to go back there. However. now I'm thinking maybe we should switch to CBR and try something different. For those folks that have stayed at both, what would you do? I'm concerned about the buses from POFQ - when we were at Riverside a year ago, it really needed some improvement and these resorts share buses. I need opinions please!

Unless things have changed from a few years ago, I noticed PO was the stop before Dixielandings(Riverside). So you shouldn't have a problem getting a seat.
CBR is a much larger resort, amd some buildings require a long walk to the foodcourt, and main bus stop. Whichever you choose have a great vacation!:)

We have stayed at many resorts on property and CBR is my favorite. It has just been remodeled. The rooms are larger than the other moderates. The food court is great. Also, it is really not as big as it seems. It has a laid back kind of feel and is very enjoyable.

I've never stayed at CBR, so I can't say much about it.

I did, however, stay at POFQ in 9/00 and had a marvelous time. You can't go wrong with its small size--no room is inconveniently located. We had no problems with the bus transportation at all, and we loved the boat to/from Downtown.

We enjoyed everything else about the place--the pool, the food court, the lounge. Truthfully, the only thing I could find slightly wrong was that the carpeting in our room was a bit worn. And I do mean just a little bit.

We have stayed at and enjoyed both POFQ and CBR. You can't go wrong with either one. But my favorite moderate is the Caribbean Beach simply because I prefer the atmosphere there. I love the white sand beaches and brightly colored buildings. You should choose the resort atmosphere that appeals most to you. Have a great time!

CBR has long been my favorite resort.

The resort is very spread out, but if you ask to stay in either Martinique, Aruba, Jamaica, or Trinidad North, you won't have a problem getting to the food court quickly.

The rooms are bigger than the other Disney moderates, and they've just been refurbished (so it's sorta like a brand new resort!).

The theming is so relaxing with the soft pastels and the sounds of steel drums near Old Port Royale. You truly feel like you're on vacation while you're here. Everything is very laid back.

Besides, you can actually see Illuminations from CBR!!

I much prefer CBR over POFQ but POR ties with CBR. I loved the expansive views across the lake at CBR and all the colorful buildings. I always thought the buses were excellent at CBR. They were fine at POFQ as well though we did get stuck at MK one night waiting quite a while. I suspect that happens at all of the resorts. Try not to worry about the transprot to much and concentrate on if you want a New Orleans or Carribean Village backdrop for your trip. :)

I also stayed at PO in '93 before my wife and I had children and enjoyed it thoroughly. It has a cool dragon/lizard slide at the pool which kids will enjoy. We are staying at CBR in June and from everything I've read, it is a great resort as well.

I have never stayed at PO-FQ.

I have stayed at CBR twice and LOVE this resort. In addition to the rooms being larger, they have added a new privacy curtain between the dressing area with the sinks, and the rest of the room. If you will be traveling with kids, it really comes in handy.

I have some pictures and info about CBR on my web sites, the links are below! :)

Have a wonderful vacation, whichever you pick! :)

I too have stayed at both CBR and POFQ.

The CBR was our first trip (together) and although the theming was excellent, we were newbies then and didn't know to ask for a preferred room location. We got stuck very far away from the food court ( that's code for coffee). Although I did enjoy my quiet morning strolls for my cup of java, I did not enjoy watching the bus drive by our bus stop because it was to full to pick up anyone else!!!

Our next trip, my cousing recommended FQ. I LOVED IT!! I liked the smaller size of the resort and the bonus boat ride to DD. It makes for a wonderful beginning to a night out. Don't forget FQ's sister resort Riverside. If your in need of some more atmosphere just take a stroll down river....

We are headed back in Nov. and can't wait!!!

We love the CBR!! It is our favorite resort. We also are going in June and could not get any room at CBR and have to go to POFQ! We made our ressies in April and there were no rooms available at CBR in June. I have tried several times since, and they still say they have no availability(I haven't tried this week at all so....) I really think you can't go wrong with either and if you get a room in June please post it, I 'll try again then! Good Luck and Enjoy!

Our family of 4 loved CBR, but we never stayed at PO. The spread-out feel felt more relaxing than other resorts, since it never feels too crowded (even if it is). Can't beat the coffee pot in the room, for a coffee-holic like me (remember to bring extra coffee and cremora from home, because they don't give you enough). My 2 boys (6 and 8) loved the pirate pool also, and the food court in the morning was perfect (I wish the deluxes had a food court!)

Well, we have stayed at CBR and are to be staying at PO-FQ in October.

We liked CBR, but it was HUGE and a walk to get anywhere, as we were in the Barbados section. The theming was very nice, and the grounds and rooms nicely maintained. We didn't like the food court, though, and the pool was on the small side. There are 7 bus stops and the busses do stop at all of them before heading to the parks. The check in area and the food court/shops/ main pool are not in the same building, but are on opposite sides of the resort. The sitdown restaurant was nice, but only serves dinner. Our favorite 2 things were the Banana Cabana pool bar, and the room size (bigger than the other resorts).

PO-FQ is a smaller resort, and no room is very far from the bus stop or the main building. In the mornings and the evenings, there are separate busses from this resort, which only has one stop. It shares amenities with PO-R, which means your selection of 7 or 8 pools, 2 of which are themed, 2 food courts and a sitdown restaurant at PO-R that serves both breakfast and dinner. You have the boat to DTD in the evenings, as well. The rooms are smaller, however, and there is no sitdown restaurant actually IN PO-FQ.

Really, it is all a matter of taste and preference, and comes down to theming and logistics.

Good luck in your decision!

This is a tough one!
I'm all for trying new resorts but you have a sentimental reason for going back to POFQ so that may tip the scales a bit. I wouldn't worry so much about the buses at POFQ, I believe they've improved a lot since you were there last. If anything you may have a worse problem with the buses at CBR just because there are so many more stops than POFQ. If that is your major criteria I would recommend POFQ due to its small size. However if your really itching for something new, go for the CBR! You could always save POFQ for next year and celebrate your 10 year anniversary!

We stayed at PORiverside in Nov/Dec 2001. The transportation was great. At the FQ (which was closed then) you will be the first stop to get on and the first one to get off. A nice perk. So, if transportation is your worry, I wouldn't worry about it. Select the theme that you like best and go for it. We prefer FQ because of its proximity to Riverside. You can use everything at both. And that makes it nice.

We've stayed at both, also. CBR first and like others didn't know to ask for a closer room. We had rented a car so we could drive to the food court, and theme parks wich made it easier. DH liked it better then me.

I LOVED and adored POFQ! I thought it was intimate and quaint. We loved the boat ride to Downtown Disney! It was a nice alternative to the busses.

Good luck and what ever you decide, how can you miss? You'll be at WDW!

Have stayed at both. Like POFQ better. Smaller, more intimate and we loved the boat ride to the marketplace. Still if you are looking for something different I would pick CSR over CBR. I do think it does probably boil down to what themeing you like. If you are looking for beautiful and romantic to me it would be CSR and then POFQ, with CBR behind (although it is pretty too)

Hi,

We might have both been at POFQ on our honeymoons at the same time in 1993. My husband and I were married on Aug 14th 1993 and checkin to POFQ on the 15th.

We have stayed at CBR twice and POFQ twice and I have to say that if we were to stay at a moderate again it would be POFQ. Even though CBR is very nice we like that fact that POFQ is not as spread out as other moderates and that POFQ is the first stop on the bus route. First to pick up and first to drop off.

We also perfer the theming of POFQ then the old south over at PORS.
