We booked the CBR for 6 nights (preffered room) the last week of January and need suggestions on where to ask to stay. Should we be close to OPR and the main pool, or across the lake? We have a 6 and 7 year olds.

Thanks for the help!

Rob

We just got back from CBR. To my knowledge, if you booked a preferred room, it will be in the buildings in Martinique or Trinidad North that are closest to OPR. The rooms in the villages across the lake, like Aruba and Jamaica, aren't preferred, but they do cost less per night. That being said, we stayed in Jamaica building 45, right at the end of the walkway on the other side of the lake. It was a very short and pleasant walk across the little island to OPR, and I didn't regard it as any sort of a hardship. We found it to be very quiet on that side, with the added bonus of being able to see the Wishes and Illuminations fireworks from the balconies of the buildings that face the road. Having stayed there, I wouldn't pay the extra money to stay in Martinique or Trinidad North.

As the other poster noted the preferred villages are Trinidad North and Martinique. If you don't want preferred then I would look at Jamaica or Aruba.

I would pay extra for the preferred locations. We loved being close to Old Port Royale, the beach at Martinique is great with the hammocks for watching the Epcot fireworks.

I wouldn't pay extra for a water view. You might want to visit the threads below for more information on CBR.

Thanks, this is our first time staying onsite, we have stayed at the BW Plaza Intl for the last 10 years. We are really looking forward to the CBR.....just want to make sure we have the best possible room.

I stayed in Martinique in July....and it was so convenient....right by Old Port Royale *&* the pool. If you booked a preferred room....then you'll either be staying there or Trinidad North. I wouldn't suggest staying in any of the other villages....too far to walk, especially if you have little kids. Plus, it's much more convenient than walking over a mile just to fill up your drink cups!

We loved the CBR when we stayed there and I always like to pass on this little hint:

We stayed in building 45 in Jamaica also, with a water view room overlooking the shimmering lake...gorgeous!

But here's the best thing about Jamaica: The buses stop at Jamaica first, then the main entrance lobby, then the five other stops at the different "islands."

This means that when the bus comes to you, it is empty, guaranteeing you a seat.

When you leave a park and you're on a crowded bus and you're standing, Jamaica is the first stop again and you don't have to stand as long as you would if you were at the last stop.

It's a huge advantage even though it doesn't sound like it would be.

And the walk across the bridge is very tranquil.

Enjoy!

Regarding the buses stopping at Jamaica first, I had read the same thing before we went to WDW 12/5-12/11 and stayed in Jamaica. But it didn't turn out to be that way all the time. Sometimes the buses came in from the side road just above Jamaica, and it was the first stop. Other times, the buses seemed to come from around the lake and there were already people on them, although not many. And every night when we returned from a park, we came in the main entrance and stopped at Barbados first, then went clockwise around the lake, with Jamaica being the next to the last stop.

In complete agreement with mm6mm6 and although the bus didn't stop there first every time, it happened at least 80% of the time which was a blessing some days.
We also stayed in bldg. 45 in Jamaica in a corner room with a gorgeous water view. The walk to the main food court was less then 5 minutes and the location was perfect.
That would also be my recommendation - good luck!!!

when we were there last week, posted hours were 6:30 AM to 11 PM, although some literature said it didn't open til 7 AM. but the 6:30 time was posted on the doors.

I would highly suggest Jamaica 45. It's right by a lovely playground for kids on the beach and is right next to the bridge to get over to OPR. I tried to get into this building but ended up in Aruba 54 which was still lovely.

Here's a picture someone I know took of Jamaica 45 ....

Does anyone know the hours of the food court at OPR?

Thanks
We will also be there the last week in January at CBR, and when I called recently to the hotel to check on something, they told me the food court should be open at least by 7 a.m. until 11 at night. I think they said pizza delivery is until 11 as well. They also said often if you need an early breakfast you can get in at 6:30 although technically it won't open until 7a.m.

And the food court has a pretty good variety, and also, the refrigerated grab-n-go stuff (muffins, sandwiches, fruit) should be available earlier and later. See ya there in January!
