A heart attack caused by cocaine use was responsible for the death June 27 of John Entwistle, the bassist for the rock band The Who, a coroner said Thursday (July 25). The 57-year-old's death is considered accidental and was not an overdose, the Clark County, Nevada coroner said.

I guess by saying it was accidental, that it was not a suicide.

Is that like playing with a gun you thought was unloaded and accidentally shooting yourself?

I guess that is important for any insurance policy he had. :(

I take it to mean that he just meant to get high, not to kill himself . . .

What a surprise. Another rocker dies because of drugs.

These aging rockers should get a clue that they cant party like they did in their younger days.

This is really so sad as I was hoping this was just his heart and at his age NOT drugs.:( We were very fortunate to see him perform last year in our city during the "Walk Down Abbey Road" tour and he was simply amazing. It really angers me to see such talented artists loose their life so unnecessarily!:(

I guess they never learn....or they think it won't happen to them!

Look at the number of great singers/musicians that have died from accidental drug overdoses or alcohol abuse. Sadly, the list will continue to grow.

They probably want to get "just a little bit higher" and that one cc. or last shot is enough to put them in the grave. :(

Interesting site, Dan.

My DH, being both a doctor AND a rock and roll fan, and I sometimes engage in a morbid game of "how did they die"?

It does seem that DRUGS, ACCIDENTS (car, plane), SUICIDE, and MURDER are the most common causes . . .

But since the average RnR star is young, those statistics, as a group, are probably not that much different than the general population.

From the ages of 24 -34, accidents is the leading casue of death.
