Can I wear my wedding band while having a CAT Scan?

I have never taken my wedding band off since the day Daxx put it on my finger. It will completely and utterly tick me off if I have to take it off.

Please advise. Thanks! ~Daxx's Wife

I have had one of my chest and one of my sinuses and they never asked me to take my wedding band off. I did have to remove my earring for the sinus one.

Thanks for the info. I told Daxx that I'm going to refuse to remove my wedding band. I know it sounds like I'm 5 yo ... but in all honesty, I think this CAT scan is ridiculous.

I had a ruptured cyst (diagnosed by 2 drs and 2 sonographers). After going through 3 very thorough exams, 2 separate sets of sonograms and 3 rounds of bloodwork, it's all determined to be cysts on my ovaries ... but my OB/GYN feels that's not good enough and every other test (even though he saw the sonogram photos himself) is wrong and has ordered this CAT scan. I know it's "for my own good" ... but I think he's being over-dramatic b/c the sonograms show nothing else out of the ordinary and bloodwork came back fine. Anyway, my Dr. has me so freaking worked up over this CAT scan that it's making me so uptight and a nervous wreck.

Thanks for the info.!

Had one last week and I was scared - the anticipation was alot worst that the scan. The IV was fine and I didn't taste the mercury at all. It was over very fast. My right hand was up in air and I just had to take off necklace as it was a chest scan. Good Luck. This was actually one of the easier tests I have been through.

Thanks, Niagara2. I'm more concerned about the results than anything else.

If they would need to have you remove it, ask them first if you can put tape over it instead. I remember doing that one time and it wasn't a problem.

Hope all turns out well with your test.

Wishing you an all clear and best of luck, Daxx's Wife!

 Prayers and pixie dust headed your way!

CAT scans are not bad. It's the MRI's you have to take all the metal off for.

CT Scans are no problem, if you were to have a MRI then they would request that you take it off.

Thanks for all the good wishes!!!! I sincerely appreciate them and they make me rest easier! Hugs and Blessings to you all!

I am sending pixie dust to you so that all goes well. :wizard:

I have had two, no jewelry removed. It was quick and easy, you just have to hold your breathe for a few seconds.

This is true, but wedding bands are okay :goodvibes

I had an MRI last year and I felt exactly like Daxx's wife - DH put my ring on my hand and I've never taken it off. My Mom never took her ring off either. I had to remove all other rings and jewelry, but my wedding ring was fine to stay on :)

I hope you get good results from your scan and you should not have to remove your wedding band. Even for surgery, I refused to take it off and they taped it up instead. You should never have to take it off! :)

Laurie :)
