My DBF's cat who is normally a pain in the butt, has just achieved a new level even for him. He has begun spraying on EVERYTHING, not just a few drops like normal spraying, no that would be too easy. He is letting go almost an entire bladder's worth all over everywhere-from the front door to the shower curtain-nothing is safe. I got some of that pheromone spray that is supposed to discourage them from wanting to spray, but it doesn't seem all that effective (I didn't get the feliway kind because it was too expensive) Any suggestions or helpful hints from you catowners out there? DBF is going out of the country Saturday and leaving me with this cat alone for 5 weeks and if this continues I may go postal. Please save my sanity and help me out!

You might try taking him to the vet to see if he has a medical problem. Usually cats will go in inappropriate places if something is wrong with them - usually a urinary tract infection.

Everytime that has happand with us it has been due to a UTI. If you go to the vet you can probably get an antibiotic and the cat will be better.

Is he fixed? If not, he will be by the time your dbf gets back.

my son has a male cat, I only have females and Mr. Houdini started doing this. Mostly because the other male cats in the neighborhood started to visit our back door looking for my beautys.

My son went to the pet store and purchased some liquid that would eliminate the odor outside/inside. It came in a gallon jug and he mixed some with water in a spray bottle and went around the foundation of the house spraying the ground but paying more attention to the doors where my girls like to hang out.

That helped. Guys smell the females and want at them and the alpha male in the house was having none of it. Even tho you may only have one cat in your house if he smells someone in the neighborhood leaving their scent, he wants to replace it with his own.

I might add, all my girls are fixed and so is Houdini......

My female cat started doing this because of outside cats. Tried the feliway (did nothing) Checked her out with the vet, threw more money at a behaviorist vet who gave me insane, useless ideas. We finally had to let her outside. She is so happy now.
