Just a little kitty story and public service announcement for you all. . .
My kitties are freaking out in "jail" right now at our vet's office

. They went in yesterday and are there until a week from today. One of them either fell asleep or got tangled in a curtain and fell off a high windowsill onto our bed Saturday morning, and cut my husband's lip in the process while he was sleeping. DH had to get 3 stitches, and we had to fill out a "no-big-deal" form for the clinic to send into Animal Control. We were sleeping when this happened, so we are not positive which cat it even was.
So Sunday at noon, Animal Control shows up at our door, and says we have to quarantine the cats (who are inside kitties showing no signs of aggression at all) because they were behind on their shots

. Yeah, I know I should have gotten their shots updated - and believe me, I feel bad enough about that without anyone here telling me that

. But even the vet says this is a ridiculous thing the city is making us do with inside cats, and that an exam now, home-quarantining for 10 days, maybe a fine for being behind on the shots, and then a follow-up exam in 10 days after the fact would have made more sense.
So we are missing our kitties like crazy, plus we are paying out the wazzoo, and our kitties are in a cage in a strange place, absolutely confused and miserable. . .
So FYI -
Go get your kitties (even inside ones) their shots if you're behind.
DH and I went to visit Bert and Ernie today, and they were happy to see us. We calmed them down, but I'm sure they are freaked out again by now. They don't even like strangers very much when they are safe at home, and they definitely don't deal well with other cats.
Here they are a while back:
