Cat in the Hat Movie; anyone see it yet?

Hi Spidey..thanks for that. Actually...I thought your example was rather funny. So on the whole "fairly" tame would you say? I understand how this movie is weird for kids though....by the sounds of it they are really appealing to the over 13 year old maybe.

Hey Spidey - yes, I think he did do the cowardly lion a couple times. I really do love Mike Myers too, my favorite movie of his is Wayne's World.

I forgot about the "dirty ho" part until Spidey mentioned it. It is the kind of thing that took away from the movie for me. It didn't make me laugh, and it did go above my kids heads, but they knew "something" wasn't right. Just by the way he said it, they could tell something was different. That is one of the reasons this movie failed for me - that comment didn't add anything to the movie.

So.....does anyone know when the new Shrek is coming out?? Shrek is one of my all time favorite movies. That movie is an example of a kids movie that does adult humor EXACTLY right.

Hi Tonia......The Cat sounds like a kind of ....Jack Nickelson in Batman Movie - have you seen that one - or the other movie with Meryl Streep where her head turns around - can't remember the name of it....is it like that? If the character was like that and it was not said in a funny kiddie tone for the adults way, I can see how it wouldn't work. It wasn't that long ago that I went to see Finding Nemo with the children - now we thought that was much better than expected and there were a few comments thrown in for the adults that were very amusing at the time.

Hi Selina, yes I enjoyed Nemo too, it was very cute. The Cat In The Hat just didn't work for me. And, I thougt the dirty hoe part was just plain offensive.

That would be Death Becomes Her :)

What's this about the dirty hoe line?

Can someone shed some light on the Alec Baldwin part? I'm curious, but do not want to fork out money to actually see this movie...

Well, there is a scene where Alec Baldwin is in his house. He takes off a "man girdle" if you will, and sits down on his couch. He has a beer belly and it is very hairy. He starts to "massage" his belly button in a "weird" way. It just didn't fit and it really was gross and not funny.

P.S. For the dirty ho line, read my previous post. It will detail it there.

Spidey..this movie sounds so weird. Massaging a hairy belly button!! and a fat one.......errrghh!! Very "dark" undertones aren't there.

Well.....hmm. I don't understand why a kid's story is made up to be a gross "adult themed" story. My daughter wants to see it, but I think we'll stick to good ol' Calculatus Eliminatus on the 1960's animated Cat in the Hat DVD :)
