Cat in the Hat Movie; anyone see it yet?

What's wrong with Coldplay? lol. I just got their CD for my birthday...I really like it, which is strange because it's not really my style...but something about it...

They're too mellow/wimpy for my tastes. And clocks is overplayed, IMO.

Now I am wondering if Universal will sell any merchandies revolving around this movie or not. Hmm....

"Clocks"...overplayed? Oh, guess I don't listen to the radio that much. But, I know what you mean about the mellow music...I usually hate it...but for some reason I like Coldplay...not all of there songs...but a few of them. "Clocks" grew on me from hearing it on the radio...back when I listened to the radio. "The Scientist" grew on me because I happened to see the music video everytime I ate at Hard Rock...so, yeah. Most of the songs I wouldn't have liked originally...but they grew on me

I read a few reviews on the Cat in the Hat movie and they weren't that good. It seems to boil down to that the movie looks nice, but the humor is too crude.

I think the problem with turning Dr. Seuss books into movies is that you're trying to turn a 20 minute story to 2 hours. It's the SNL skit to movie problem.

Indeed. While the Grinch did this "transition" extremely well, CITH did have to do some stretching for time.

Ohhh DM....I thought you would have liked Coldplay. They are one of my fave bands...love Spies, Yellow, In my Place, The Scientist - their second album is brilliant! (IMO)

There's already merchandise being put out for the new Peter Pan movie...I'm a cake decorator, and the people that make all the toys you put on the cakes send us flyers and stuff to order new things that are coming out, ie. movies, videos, etc. and we got something the other day on this. Looks interesting, but I probably wouldn't go see it.

I was looking foreward to taking the kids to this. I love this time of the year and all the family movies come out so theres something to do when its cold. We saw Looney Toons, Brother Bear, and Elf, but the reviews for Cat in the Hat were awful. I was looking for something positive to be said, but all I read was that it was one of the worst movies of the year and it was the Gigli of kids movies. I just can't get myself to buy four tickets to see this, so maybe i'll give it a shot on video. Now I have to hope for the Haunted Mansion to be appropriate for kids.

As far as Paris Hilton in it, I'm sure that Barry, Spidey, DM and I could be talked into watching at least one Paris Hilton movie.

Well, even though Cat in the Hat is getting poor reviews, it was the #1 movie this weekend...it made $40.1 million (however, Grinch made $55.1 million it's opening weekend).

My dh & I were so excited to see this movie ... however what a disappointment! All the great stuff was already shown in the trailers. I love Mike Myers but this wasn't his best Oh, well!
