Cat in the Hat Movie; anyone see it yet?

It would be nice if the Ghostbusters dressed festively with Christmassy settings on the steps.

....or if they froze from the cold. Just kidding.;)

Wait!!!! I just contributed to GB discussion. You guys ARE good!;)

LOL. You see, you and Prince Eric have done that in a few threads...whose idea was it to become Ghostbusters, anyway? ;) ;) ;) :p

Selina.....you mean they don't have the attraction where you can star in a Star Trek movie anymore??!! Bummer. I was there years ago for my honeymoon and my wife and I did the movie. I was the captain and she was the vulcan. We're going back with our 8 year old son and was hoping we could all do it again. That was great fun! Oh well.

I, too heard terrible reviews of Cat in the Hat and have no desire to see it. Also, I think Mike Myers as the Cat looks very creepy!

Now, if only I can get my son to want to see the Haunted Mansion....and better yet, to go on the ride at WDW. He says he doesn't want to because he thinks it will be too scary! I keep telling him it's humorous and funny, not scary. Oh well.

wallytosa - how many years has it been? You all should enjoy the parks a lot...many things have changed...mostly for the better. :) Too bad about the Star Trek attraction. I didn't go often to Universal back then...besides I would have been so young...but I would have enjoyed it! As geeky as it may sound, my brother and I watched Star Trek :p :p :p :p No, we were not the kind who would go to conventions as vulcans or klingons, mind you!! Now THAT is scary stuff! :)

Flyfly...it's been about 10 years since I've been to Universal. We've been to WDW more recently, but decided to do US this time too. Staying at the HRH for two nights and were only going to do US one day and not IOA. But after reading all the posts, we might have to do two days and check out both parks, especially since we'll have FOTL access with the hotel keys. I thought IOA was nothing but roller coasters, which I don't care for, but I see they have lots of other cool attractions there. I take it Kongfrontation isn't at US anymore either, since I never see anyone talk about it. That was a great ride. And I assume Jimmy Nuetron took over the space that had Futurama, because it sounds very similar. And no Wild West Show anymore? How about the animal show? That was always a favorite. We can't wait....only 5 more months!!!!

Kong is gone. The Mummy is replacing him.

Jimmy Neutron replaced Hanna-Barbera.

Wild West has been replaced by....nothing yet. But it is gone.

DM- You say nothing yet. Are there any rumors for what will take it's place?

Nothing yet. It'll probably just be a ghost stage used for special events.

It'll probably just be a ghost stage used for special events.

Grr...why couldn't they have held certain special events that have caused there to be no ghostbusters shows? :p Of course, smart Universal put some event at the GB Stage and caused there to be no shows for the entire day...on a SATURDAY (come on, the worst possible day). They had the WWWSS stage open...I guess it's the convenience and theming...but still...completely unfair they always pick on that show.

Rant over. :p

Okay. I saw the Cat in the Hat last night. Here's the deal: Was it the best movie that I have seen? NO. Was it the worse??? NO. It was less than I expected, but I still enjoyed it. My son loved it to. I have to agree some of the humor is improper for a "family" movie, but it does go over the kids heads. The movie's effects are spectacular, and Mike Myers did a good job. Oh, and then there was Paris Hilton.......:)

Hey guys, here's my take. I saw the movie yesterday with my kids - 8 and 5, almost 6.

This movie fell way flat. I LOVE Mike Myers, but something was wrong with him as the Cat. It was kinda of creepy and I hated when he did the Cat with his "Coffee Talk" voice - too weird!!! He just wasn't right in the part and the costume and makeup wasn't right. The fish was bizzare too. This movie is just not good. My kids said they liked it, but they won't want to buy it on DVD. It in no way compares to The Grinch, which was great.

I didn't care too much for the adult jokes, but they did go over my kids heads.

The set was fantastic, but you can't watch a whole movie for the set design!!! The only thing that saved it for me was Dakota Fanning - she is just precious.

Also, I literally got nauseous at the Alec Baldwin part when he is in his house alone - GROSS!!!!

On a better note, the preview for Cheaper By the Dozen looked awesome!! I can't wait to see it! Also, the preview for Shrek Two looked hilarious. Anyone know when it is coming out?

Thanks for the reviews SpideyHulk and Tigerlilly's Mom. The only reason my mom and I want to see the movie is because of Dakota Fanning...so talented! Maybe we'll wait and rent it on DVD. :)

Tigerlilly,

That was gross with Alec Baldwin!!!!!!!

There were some parts where the Cat spoke like the cowardly lion in the Wizard of Oz....or maybe it was just me....

SpideyHulk - hello :D There's so many mixed reviews on this film. My daughter will be 10 in just over a couple of weeks - how improper are the things you are referring to? and what kind of improper - sexual? swear words? and what is the rating - is it PG - which in England means Parental Guidance - have to watch the film with a parent. We were looking forward to seeing it - if you had to match it to another movie - which would be the closest to say it was as good as.....? but not as good as.......? - which would it be?

Hey Selina! A perfect example of the humor is (and not to give anything away but.....) there is a scene where Cat is running in a yard, he steps on a garden hoe and it hits him in the face. He then picks it up and says "you dirty hoe...." It was kind of weird for the kids........

I can't really compare it to any other movies at the moment. It is a PG rating here as well.

Hope that helps.
